ITS Campus, ITS News \u2014 <\/b>In order to increase international research capacity,\u00a0Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/a> received an official visit from Murdoch University representing the Western Australian – East Java Consortium (WAEJUC) and the Indo-Pacific Research Centre (IPRC), on Wednesday (20\/8). This visit also serves as a strategic step for ITS in strengthening its international research network to support the development of research in Indonesia.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Director of Research and Community Service (DRPM) of ITS, Fadlilatul Taufany ST PhD, stated that this visit is a reciprocal visit following the visit by a team from East Java’s higher education institutions to Australia last April. That visit aimed to establish inter-university research cooperation. “From that visit, we formed WAEJUC,” he said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the lecturer, who is familiarly called Taufany, added that WAEJUC is a collaborative research program between higher education institutions in East Java and Western Australia. This program aims to encourage research collaboration on global issues, as well as strengthen the academic network in both regions. “The issues discussed are related to food security, climate change, and the utilization of technology,” explained the lecturer from the Department of Chemical Engineering<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During the visit, the Murdoch University delegation was represented by Prof Jacquiline Lo and Prof Tania Urmee as Directors of IPRC. Taufany revealed that the main topic of discussion was related to the WAEJUC Research Summit 2025 activities, which have entered the final stage. He hopes this forum can become a platform to further strengthen the academic and research networks in both regions.<\/p>\n

Besides discussing the WAEJUC Research Summit 2025, Taufany explained that there were several strategic programs that were also discussed. These programs are the development of flagship projects, industrial internship programs, and inter-university lecturer exchanges. “In addition, we also plan for student exchanges or joint degrees,” he said.<\/p>\n

By receiving this visit, ITS directly supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). <\/a>Specifically on point 4 regarding quality education, point 9 regarding industry, innovation, and infrastructure, and point 17 regarding partnerships for the goals. This also serves as tangible proof of ITS’s contribution in establishing strategic synergy among international higher education institutions.<\/p>\n

Lastly, through this collaborative discussion, Taufany hopes that the collaboration with Murdoch University and WAEJUC can provide a real impact on the development of the Indo-Pacific region. “Hopefully, this collaboration can continue onwards to produce research that is beneficial to the community,” he concluded.
