This is evidenced by the two-day event titled \u201cTraining on Enhancing Knowledge and Skills in Food Hygiene and Sanitation for Food Handlers and Responsible Parties,\u201d held at the Auditorium of the ITS Research Center Building starting Thursday (July 24).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On behalf of the Mayor of Surabaya, the Mayor&#8217;s Expert Staff for Community and Human Resources, Dr. Bisukma Kurniawati, MKes, welcomed this training. Bisukma emphasized that the food consumed by the community and tourists must be guaranteed to be clean, healthy, and fit for consumption. \u201cTherefore, let us work together to maintain the quality of food and cuisine to realize Surabaya\u2019s premier culinary district,\u201d she urged.<\/p>\n<p>Bisukma also noted that this training program represents a tangible collaboration between the city government, business operators, community organizations, and higher education institutions. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MScEng, PhD, also emphasized that this training program reflects ITS&#8217;s commitment to improving the well-being of the community, particularly food business operators. Previously, ITS has actively supported community business activities through various forms of community service. \u201cOne example is that in 2024, ITS assisted in the halal certification process for 1,000 business operators,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Bambang explained that in implementing these community service activities, ITS always integrates religious principles with science and technology. Among them were university canteen vendors, culinary tourism centers (SWK), meat markets, and restaurant operators. \u201cToday\u2019s training is part of a systematic effort to achieve better food service standards,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The man, who is familiarly known as Gunawan, said that this training was held to assist the government and business actors in implementing Minister of Health Regulation No. 14 of 2021. Gunawan mentioned that participants will gain knowledge related to policies, environmental maintenance and food equipment, food production processes, as well as disease risks and management.<\/p>\n<p>This training for food handlers and managers also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) toward a better future.
