ITS Campus, ITS News \u2014\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0The issue of the climate crisis that increasingly requires real solutions has prompted the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI) to hold MPR RI Goes to Campus which this time was present at\u00a0<\/span>the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0campus . Carrying the theme of\u00a0<\/span>the Urgency of Energy Transition to Prevent the Impact of Climate Change<\/span><\/em>\u00a0, this activity was held at the Auditorium of the ITS Research Center Building, Wednesday (19\/3) afternoon.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Opening the event, ITS Rector Prof Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD in his speech also emphasized the climate crisis whose real impacts can now be felt. “This certainly does not only have an impact on the environmental aspect, but also on the economic, social, and welfare aspects of society,” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

For that, Bambang also hopes that this activity can become a discussion forum that supports the acceleration of the energy transition through the role of academics and policy makers. “This step can be a change in creating a big impact for future generations,” he reminded.<\/span><\/p>\n

Namely, Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI Dr. Eddy Soeparno SH MH together with the Head of the Energy and Mineral Resources Center from\u00a0<\/span>the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM) ITS<\/span><\/a>\u00a0Dedet Candra Riawan ST MEng PhD. Both speakers were moderated by the Director of Research and Community Service Fadlilatul Taufany ST PhD.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his material, Eddy emphasized the urgency of the energy transition. The government, which wants to increase economic growth from 5 percent to 8 percent, demands greater energy needs. “Of course, the fulfillment of these energy needs remains in the fulfillment of the decarbonization commitment to achieve Net Zero Emission 2060,” he stressed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unfortunately, according to Eddy, Indonesia itself still has energy security problems, where energy such as fuel oil to LPG gas still relies on imports. This is very concerning considering that this nation has abundant and diverse energy resources, both from renewable resources to fossil energy. “The high level of imports puts Indonesia in a very vulnerable condition,” said the man born in 1965.<\/span><\/p>\n

Continuing his presentation, Eddy also emphasized the climate crisis which is also a major issue in driving the energy transition. According to him, the climate crisis requires a faster implementation of the energy transition. “From climate change which has become a climate crisis, it also demands handling and attention in accordance with the naming of the crisis,” he explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ending his material in an activity that is in line with the constitutional mandate, Eddy also emphasized the importance of discussion and dialogue in supporting the energy transition, especially ITS with various existing technological innovations. He also invited all students and academics to be actively involved in this change. “It’s time for universities to be actively involved in providing research-based policy proposals,” said the Jakarta-born man.<\/span><\/p>\n

Entering the second material, Dedet emphasized the importance of preparing qualified human resources (HR) in the energy transition needed. In this case, universities play an important role in creating these needs. “Collaboration with universities is needed in forming innovations that can help in forming regulations that favor renewable energy,” he explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

The man born in Blitar also mentioned the Renewable Energy Integration Demonstrator of Indonesia (REIDI) on the ITS campus. REIDI itself is a collaboration between ITS and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore which focuses on\u00a0<\/span>renewable energy<\/span><\/em>\u00a0or a demonstrator laboratory. “This project is certainly useful in supporting the transition to Renewable Energy (EBT),” he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

This activity is expected to create a sense of responsibility and involvement in overcoming energy problems that occur. This is also in line with the\u00a07th point of\u00a0<\/span>the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on clean and affordable energy that we want to achieve, as well as maintaining the commitment to the Net Zero Emission 2060 program in Indonesia.\u00a0<\/span><\/a>(ITS PUBLIC RELATIONS)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
