Mr Trevor Blakeley, CEO RINA sendiri yang memberikan penghargaan tersebut. RINA menilai, Soegiono layak mendapat penghargaan atas pengabdiannya dalam memajukan teknologi perkapalan dan mengembangkan RINA di Indonesia. Sebelumnya, Soegiono juga menjadi orang Indonesia pertama yang meraih status keanggotaan tertinggi RINA (Fellow).
