https://www.its.ac.id/news/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/11/4821.jpeg220168Kampus ITS memiliki luas 180 hektar dengan lima fakultas yang keseluruhan melibatkan hampir 19.000 insan akademik yang terdiri dari mahasiswa, dosen, dan karyaman. Lebih dari itu, Kampus ITS juga memiliki sekitar 640 unit rumah dosen dan karyawan yang secara total wilayah kampus dihuni oleh setidaknya 3.000 jiwa. Jumlah populasi yang banyak ini tentu menghasilkan sampah padat yang tidak sedikit. Melalui program Eco-campus yang merupakan bagian dari Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), ITS akan mengelola sampah padat di lingkungan ITS dan sekitar.
