Beberapa gerakan besar yang menghimpun khalayak ramai berawal dari situs jejaring. Demikian pula yang diyakini oleh civitas Sistem Infomasi Fakultas Teknologi Informatika (FTIf) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya, yakni melalui situs jejaring twitter, mereka ingin jurusan mereka dikenal oleh khalayak ramai.
