Jika sebelumnya hanya sebatas dua jalur, maka kini beralih menjadi tiga jalur. Yakni, Seleksi Nasional Masuk PTN (SNMPTN), Seleksi Bersama Masuk PTN (SBMPTN), serta jalur mandiri. Kali ini, sistem yang diterapkan pun lebih terintegrasi dengan mempertimbangkan hasil Ujian Nasional Sekolah Menengah Atas (UN SMA). Tidak hanya itu, jalur SNMPTN 2013 turut pula digratiskan.
