Menanggapi bertambahnya usia ITS, rektor kedelapan, Prof Dr Ir Muhammad Nuh DEA membeberkan penelitian tentang ramalan di masa depan yang membutuhkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Menurutnya, keterampilan ini harus dimiliki oleh seluruh civitas akademika ITS.
