Surabaya, ITS News — To build the character and leadership spirit of its leadership ranks, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) held the 2026 ITS Leadership Character Building at the 2nd Fleet Command (Koarmada II) on Tuesday (3/2). In this event, ITS leaders were required to participate in leadership training designed by the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), which also served as a platform to further strengthen the synergy between ITS and the Indonesian Navy.
ITS Rector Prof Dr (HC) Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD explained that this event was different from the Character Building activities in previous years. According to him, this activity builds a character that is disciplined, cooperative, and has integrity. “Not only that, this activity also fosters an increasingly better relationship between ITS and the Indonesian Navy,” he said.

Various types of self-development activities were enthusiastically followed by the ITS leaders, known as ITS Patriots. These not only trained physical abilities but also trained focus and self-control. Furthermore, the ITS Patriots were invited to sail and conduct activities aboard the Indonesian Navy warship named KRI Surabaya – 591.

Bringing the concept of joysailing, the activities aboard the warship included games that sharpened cohesion, teamwork, and spirit in achieving a common goal. Ranging from a hula hoop relay game to a cheering cohesion competition, these served as self-development tools for the ITS Patriots.

Alongside this event, ITS also strengthened its cooperation with the Indonesian Navy through the handover of iStow. This is an advanced ship stowage planning software innovated by the ITS academic community, used to improve cargo storage operations on Indonesian Navy ships. “This software is a symbol to strengthen the cooperation between ITS and the Indonesian Navy,” Bambang explained.

Closing the activity, the Territorial Assistant (Aster) Marine Colonel (P) Jani Sujani ST MHan MTrHanla added that this activity was organized to share knowledge from the Indonesian Navy to the ITS Patriots. He hopes this activity will bring a positive impact in building the character of ITS leaders. “Hopefully, this event will be memorable and build the leadership character of ITS Patriots better in the future,” he expressed hopefully.

The synergy between ITS and the Indonesian Navy in this 2026 ITS Leadership Character Building event also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically on goal 17 regarding Partnerships for the Goals and goal 16 on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. This cooperation is expected to yield relevant results and further strengthen the relationship between ITS and the Indonesian Navy in achieving common goals. (ITS PUBLIC RELATIONS)
