Strengthening its Alumni Network in Taiwan, ITS Encourages Global Collaboration

The Chancellor of ITS together with the leadership and alumni of ITS at an alumni meeting in Taipei City, Taiwan, on the agenda of strengthening the global alumni network.

ITS Campus, ITS News — The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) continues to strengthen its alumni network in Taiwan through the Alumni and Industrial Gathering Taiwan 2026, held in Taipei City, Taiwan, on Saturday (8/8). The gathering was attended by 73 ITS alumni from various regions in the Land of the Little Dragon of Asia.

ITS Rector Prof. Dr. (HC) Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MscEng, PhD, saw this event as a momentum to strengthen the role of alumni in improving the quality of education at ITS. Furthermore, Bambang aims to encourage improvements in the quality of research, innovation, and talent development at ITS on the international stage.

Bambang assessed that this initiative is a step taken by the institution to strengthen ties with alumni while optimizing the ITS diaspora network. The established connectivity is expected to develop into a structured and sustainable collaborative force. “We want to see how the alumni presence can have a more tangible impact on the alma mater and open up new opportunities for contribution to ITS,” explained the Rector.

The ITS Chancellor gave a speech at the 2026 Taiwan Alumni and Industrial Gathering agenda as part of a meeting with ITS alumni in Taiwan.

Furthermore, the ITS president encouraged alumni to take on roles that align with their respective capacities and backgrounds. The large number of alumni who have successfully led companies can help identify young ITS talent, develop partnerships, and foster innovative collaborations. “Their role can begin with mentoring, opening internship opportunities, providing career insights, and bridging students with the world of work,” Bambang stated.

Furthermore, for alumni active in academics and research, the Rector encouraged them to contribute through collaborative research, publications, and guest lectures. This could also take the form of co-supervision and academic exchanges between students and lecturers. Such collaborations can expand international research networks, strengthen the academic reputation and competitiveness of ITS graduates globally.

Head of ITS Alumni Relations Unit Dr Arief Abduraahkman ST MT mobilized ITS alumni in Taiwan to continue contributing according to their capacity and background.

In addition to discussing contribution opportunities, this meeting also provided an opportunity for ITS to hear alumni needs and maintain connections with their alma mater. The Head of the ITS Alumni Relations Unit , Dr. Ir. Arief Abdurrahkman, ST, MT, outlined various service channels and engagement opportunities available to alumni. One of these is online administrative services. “We are providing this approach to facilitate collaborations that are relevant to the needs of both parties,” said the lecturer from the Department of Instrumentation Engineering . 

He emphasized that building alumni networks abroad is not just about community building, but also a strategic asset for the university. ITS’s vision is to become a resilient, impactful, and global campus. Every contribution alumni make in their workplaces contributes to ITS’s reputation as a campus full of technological innovation.

The atmosphere of dialogue between ITS leaders and alumni regarding the role of alumni in making an impact, collaboration opportunities, and strengthening international networks.

This alumni gathering was bolstered by a strategic visit to National Taiwan University (NTU) and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST). This is part of ITS’s effort to expand opportunities for academic collaboration, research, mobility, and global partnerships with one of Asia’s leading technology universities.

Strengthening the alumni network in Taiwan is one of ITS’s efforts to expand connectivity and collaboration internationally. This activity also supports Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Point 4 on Quality Education and Point 17 on Partnerships to Achieve the Goals. (*)
