Surabaya, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to provide development opportunities for its students, including in pursuing careers after college. Heading towards the graduation moment, ITS held the 46th ITS Career Fair (BKI) Industrial Gathering to attract cooperation with companies in order to connect graduating students with the industrial world at Novotel Samator Surabaya on Wednesday (15/4) evening.

ITS Rector Prof Dr (HC) Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MScEng PhD revealed that cooperation with industrial partners is beneficial for graduates who will be involved in the industrial realm. Therefore, it is necessary for ITS to prepare graduates who align with industrial needs. One of them is through internship cooperation to improve student experience and quality before entering the industrial world. “Even so, it is my great hope that ITS students can become entrepreneurs,” he added.

In the talk show session, Professor of the ITS Engineering Physics Department Prof Dr Ir Aulia Siti Aisjah MT stated that ITS as a university implements mutually beneficial collaboration with industry. In order to provide students who are competent for the industry, one of the ways that can be done is to provide opportunities for its students to know the real world of work. “Industrial cooperation has been applied to study programs in the ITS Vocational Faculty with 17-20 credits,” she stated.

As the ITS Director of Academic Development and Learning Innovation, Aulia added that ITS is also flexible in compiling a curriculum according to the developments of the times and industry. Through elective course facilities available in every study program, students are required to have a competent profile according to their respective choices. That way, every student has a selling point and is relevant to industrial needs.

In alignment with Aulia, the Head of the ITS Entrepreneurship and Career Development Sub-directorate Dr Hertiari Idajati ST MSc said that ITS is targeting to become an entrepreneur university in 2030. One of the steps that has been taken by ITS to achieve that target is the existence of the ITS Job Portal platform.

Thus, the timeframe for students to get a job post-graduation is expected to be shorter. “In addition, there is also the ITS Career Fair (BKI) event which is held routinely twice a year,” added the lecturer of the ITS Urban and Regional Planning (PWK) Department who is familiarly called Ida.

This meeting between company executives and ITS as a working partner becomes a collaboration platform to fulfill the needs of both in order to obtain superior workers and desired jobs.
