ITS Campus, ITS News — The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) has officially added a 15-meter-high rock climbing arena to its sports facilities. The inauguration demonstrates the campus’s commitment, along with the ITS Student Parents Association (IKOMA), to supporting the development of student interests, talents, and competition readiness.
ITS Rector Prof. Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MSc, Eng, PhD, emphasized the inclusiveness of the sports facilities on campus. The facilities offer opportunities for rock climbers from across East Java to use them as training grounds. “Usage is not limited to ITS student activity units, but is also open to athletes from outside ITS,” he explained.

On this occasion, Bambang and ITS Geophysical Engineering student and rock climbing athlete Rahma Sahara Juhartoyo also tried out the new sports facilities firsthand. This action ensured that the physical facilities were safe and ready for use by students and athletes. He also expressed ITS’s readiness to be one of the locations for the Mayor’s Cup, as the campus sports facilities expand.
Meanwhile, Wahid Wahyudi, Head of IKOMA ITS, emphasized that IKOMA will continue to support student development. This is demonstrated through improvements to campus facilities, educational assistance, and counseling services with psychologists. “The material support provided is also supported by emotional encouragement so that students can optimally complete their studies,” he said.

Wahid also encouraged the ITS Alumni Association (IKA) to build an additional 5-meter-high rock climbing wall to further prepare ITS for hosting sporting events. In addition to the sports facilities, IKOMA also provided a double-cabin operational vehicle to support emergency services on campus by the Campus Security Unit (SKK).
Furthermore, the Chair of the Provincial Executive Board of the Indonesian Cycling Association (ISSI) hopes that IKOMA’s contributions will continue. This is because all funds raised will be channeled back to student interests. He explained that these funds will be disbursed in the form of learning facilities, services, and educational assistance.

This facility provision demonstrates IKOMA and ITS’s support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) . This support is realized through SDG point 4 on Quality Education and point 17 on Partnerships to Achieve the Goals. (*)
