ITS Campus, ITS News – Student of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya once again revived the name of the alma mater in international arena. Bringing innovations on wireless charging, ITS student won three awards at 2019 Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) which was held last February.

The competition held by the Malaysian Association of Research Scientist (MARS) and Professional Trade Exhibition and Meeting Planners (PROTEMP) is an international science-engineering project competition. Titled Asia’s Inventions and Innovations Marketplace, Indonesia sent 146 participants out of a total of thousands of other participants. ITS itself sent four delegates, one of which was Ibrahim Arsy. The Physics Department student also managed to carry three awards at once to Surabaya.

Arsy explained, he carries the same basic concept of wireless charging as a tool in general, with innovation placed on the circuit, shape, and component of the material used. “In this device, electric charges are scattered around the emitted electric field. This concept allows this tool to test lamp to gas leaks, as well as making more efficient induction lamps from LED lights,” explained the student from Jakarta.

The dimensions of the Tesla Coil size on this wireless charger are designed to be smaller, so it can be inserted into a pocket. Tesla Coil itself is a system that conducts electrical energy where electricity can be delivered without cable intermediaries. Amplification of the wireless charging concept itself is general in nature so that it can be used in various other applications (multi-system application). “Although the dimensions are quite small, the emission of energy produced is still efficient as needed,” said this 2017 student.

Arsy also designed this tool with a cylindrical shape, so the need for copper wire length to make transmitter become less. Transmitter itself is an element that converts sensors into a standard signal. Compared to the spiral design on a general wireless charger, this Arsy creation design can cut production costs so that they are cheaper.

Thanks to its creative and innovative innovations, the concept guided by Diky Anggoro SSi MSi and Drs Bachtera Indarto MSi won the two highest awards at MTE 2019. Those were the Golden Medal for champions in the selected category, and The Very Best Award which was the highest award from all categories.

Arsy’s work also received recognition from the Euro business-Haller and Haller Pro Invention Institutions by being awarded the Integrad title, an appreciation in the form of awards outside the judging. This award was given by the Polish company because his work was considered to have high business value and was considered special.

With this achievement, Arsy revealed his happiness to be able to win three awards at once. Gratitude was offered even though on the first day he had a technical problem in the form of a power source that hadn’t been lit for twenty minutes. “I hope that more ITS delegates will compete on an international scale even though they have to move on their own,” concluded the man born in 1999.
