Tokyo, ITS News — Continuing to strengthen its global alumni network, the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) held the Alumni and Industrial Gathering Japan 2026. The meeting, which took place in Tokyo and Hiroshima, Japan for two days starting Saturday (20/6), became a strategic event to expand ITS’s global partnerships in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Expressing his appreciation, ITS Rector Prof. Dr. (HC) Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MScEng, Ph.D., expressed his pride in all the alumni currently working in Japan. He believes this alumni network plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between the alma mater and the university. “Alumni are a strategic asset for ITS in building collaborations that benefit the institution, students, and the community,” Bambang explained.

The meeting with ITS Japan alumni not only discussed the university’s global image, but also expanded collaborations with various partners. The series of events in Tokyo focused on career-based discussions from industry, academia, and a range of educational institutions in Japan. These discussions focused specifically on current technology trends and the future competency needs of graduates.

According to the head of ITS, input from practitioners and academics is crucial for the university’s curriculum to continue adapting. Aligning campus teaching materials with global standards is essential. “This input also opens the door to research programs and international internship opportunities,” Bambang added.

Meanwhile, the gathering , which continued in Hiroshima City, also focused on exploring opportunities for academic and research collaboration. In the historic city, Bambang discussed the integration of student exchange programs between ITS and several prestigious educational institutions in Japan. “This meeting opens up various opportunities for educational collaboration and human resource capacity development,” he explained.

The strong presence of ITS Japan alumni spread across various strategic sectors in Japan also provides a strong foundation for realizing the campus’s internationalization plan. Through this track record, this agenda is not only designed to strengthen ties with the global industrial sector but also expands academic networks to spur future collaboration in education, research, and innovation.

Through the Alumni and Industrial Gathering Japan 2026, ITS demonstrated its commitment to continuously strengthening the role of alumni in institutional development and campus internationalization. Simultaneously, this activity demonstrated ITS’s efforts to realize Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 4 on Quality Education and point 17 on Partnerships to Achieve Goals. (*)
