ITS Campus, ITS News — The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) has inaugurated five new professors from various scientific fields. The inauguration ceremony, a precious moment for academics as it marks the pinnacle of their academic careers, took place in the 11th-floor auditorium of the ITS Research Center building on Thursday (July 16).
ITS Rector Prof. Dr. (HC) Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST., MScEng., PhD., emphasized that this ITS academic ceremony was not merely about adding professors. Rather, it was part of a journey to strengthen the Campus of Struggle’s contribution to education, research, and innovation for the nation. “Because, science will find its meaning when it can answer real-world problems and provide benefits to the nation,” Bambang explained.
The ceremony continued with a scientific oration by Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Dedy Dwi Prastyo, SSi, MSi, a Professor from the ITS Statistics Department . In his scientific oration, Dedy proposed Integrated Decision Intelligence as a financial prediction solution for government and industry. This method combines financial statistics, machine learning, and risk analysis in a comprehensive model framework. “This innovation can be used as an early warning system to adaptively anticipate various economic crisis risks,” explained the 253rd ITS Professor.
Then, the 254th Professor Prof Dr Ir Bambang Arip Dwiyantoro ST MEng also presented his scientific oration entitled Optimization of Solar Panel and Solar Chimney Technology to Support Energy Independence. The technological innovation that utilizes solar heat is able to produce air convection that flows into the chimney to turn the turbine. “Through optimization of the geometric design, the efficiency of this environmentally friendly generator has been successfully increased significantly to produce electrical power above 750%,” said Bambang when inaugurated as Professor of Mechanical Engineering ITS .
Meanwhile, ITS’s 255th Professor in Electrical Engineering , Prof. Dr. Ir. Achmad Mauludiyanto, MT, presented his scientific study entitled “Radio Wave Modeling for Various Telecommunication Applications.” His innovation is designed to optimize the design of modern communication systems. “Through accurate modeling, national telecommunications infrastructure can reduce implementation costs while significantly improving service quality,” explained the Madura-born man, familiarly known as Maulud, optimistically.
Furthermore, in the field of Electrical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ari Santoso DEA was also inaugurated as the 256th Professor of ITS. In his speech entitled “The Independence of Maritime-Air Autonomous Systems for the Prosperity and Sovereignty of the Indonesian Nation,” he emphasized that Indonesia, as an archipelagic nation, needs autonomous technology that can operate in an integrated manner under the sea, on the sea surface, and in the air. “The maritime-air autonomous system is a strategic technology to support archipelagic connectivity, shipping safety, disaster mitigation, and Indonesia’s blue economy,” Ari explained.
The professors’ scientific oration session closed with a scientific presentation by Prof. Dr. Ir. Imam Abadi, ST, MT, entitled “Structural Modeling and Analysis as Important Stages in Building Construction Planning.” The 257th ITS professor created a smart hybrid power generation system that combines solar and wind energy in a complementary manner. “This smart system has proven successful in boosting electrical efficiency by up to 25.12 percent compared to existing conventional panels,” said the ITS Professor of Engineering Physics , closing the oration session.
The addition of professors across the campus, each with a diverse range of expertise, demonstrates ITS’s efforts to improve the quality of education, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 4. Each research project contributes to the achievement of SDG point 9, which focuses on industry, innovation, and infrastructure. (ITS Public Relations)
