ITS Campus, ITS News — The Endowment Fund Management Institute (LPDA) of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) held a Capacity Building Talkshow at the Auditorium of the ITS Research Center (RC) Building on Friday, September 4. The talk show featured Dr. Mira Tripuspita, SPsi MComm, a professional practitioner and VP of Business Support Regional 2 of PT Pertamina EP, who provided ITS students with guidance on developing their capacities.
ITS Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Alumni Affairs, Prof. Agus Muhamad Hatta, ST, MSi, PhD, emphasized the importance of activities focused on developing student character. He believes that the character developed today will be the foundation for students facing their future after college.
Echoing this sentiment, the ITS Professor of Engineering Physics also highlighted the LPDA’s success in managing its endowment fund, ensuring the institution’s sustainability and supporting future generations. “The best investment for the future is the savings and efforts we invest today, just as LPDA is doing,” he concluded.
This commitment was reinforced by the Secretary of the ITS LPDA, Ir. Safira Firdaus, ST, MT, who emphasized the main principle of the endowment fund: ensuring the continued circulation of incoming principal donations. Safira stated that the LPDA’s commitment to disbursing the endowment fund aligns with the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, including providing scholarships for ITS students. “Because the Endowment Fund’s grand vision is not only to guide students to graduation, but also to prepare them as future leaders,” Safira emphasized.
This leadership concept was further elaborated by the professional practitioner known as Mira. As a clinical psychology expert, she explained that self-awareness is the first step for students to lead themselves.
According to Mira, future leaders are formed through the combination of competence, commitment, and consistency. “Because competence opens up golden opportunities, while a positive attitude maintains long-term success,” Mira explained.
As a prospective graduate, Mira emphasized the importance of managing career ambitions and maintaining good self-control. She highlighted how the transition from college to the workplace often triggers internal conflict due to high expectations that don’t align with the realities of the workplace.
Self-control is considered crucial for individuals to be able to conduct reality checks effectively. “Self-control is essential so that ambition continues to function as a driving force for healthy productivity,” explained the VP of Business Support for Regional 2 of PT Pertamina EP.
In closing, Mira also urged new students to prepare a thorough study and post-study plan. Individuals with a clear vision for their lives have been shown to report significantly higher levels of satisfaction.
Through deep reflection, everyone can recognize their potential and the things they truly want to pursue. “A career is just one means to achieving a larger life goal,” said Mira.
With this, ITS’s young generation is expected to be able to apply the principles of independent leadership in planning their future. This initial step is ITS’s effort to produce graduates with career development aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 8, namely decent work and economic growth. This will contribute to the achievement of SDG point 10, which reduces inequality. (*)
