ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to strive to improve its students’ capacity, including in the field of financial investment. One of these efforts was proven through the inauguration of the ITS Vocational Investment Gallery, which took place at the ITS Research Center Building and the Investment Gallery (GI) of the Faculty of Vocational Studies (FV) at the ITS Business Statistics Department (DSB) on Monday (26/1).
This ITS Vocational Investment Gallery is a collaboration between the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX/BEI), PT Sucor Sekuritas, and the ITS Faculty of Vocational Studies. Several invited guests in attendance included the Head of the Directorate for Supervision of Financial Service Institutions 2 of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Asep Hikayat, Vice Director of Market Development at the Indonesia Stock Exchange Dedy Priadi, Equity Director of PT Sucor Sekuritas Windra Djulnaily, as well as ITS leadership members.
TS Rector Prof Dr (HC) Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD, through a courtesy visit and discussion, expressed his full support for the new facility. According to him, financial literacy education is essential for students. “This can also be followed up through introductions to new students and included in Entrepreneurship Courses,” he said.
In line with this, the Vice Director of Market Development at the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Dedy Priadi, in his remarks, stated that accurate, transparent, and easily accessible information is a very important factor in decision-making for investors. “Students and the community need to improve financial literacy and capital market education that can provide comprehensive information, so that investors can make smart and responsible investment decisions,” he explained.
On this occasion, the Head of the ITS Business Statistics Department, Brodjol Sutijo SU MSi, explained that the opening of the facility was motivated by his visit with the ITS Faculty of Vocational Studies to the IDX some time ago. From there, his party received full support to establish this investment gallery to provide financial literacy education. “This is also supported by the needs of students conducting research in the field and compiling stock portfolios, so this facility can make things easier,” Brodjol explained.
The ITS Statistics alumnus also stated that the opening of this gallery is expected to serve as a platform for both ITS students and the general public to learn about investment directly, easily, and safely. Through the facilities provided, it is hoped that learning will occur through direct investment and trading practices.
The seriousness of managing this investment gallery is shown through the facilities within. These include 18 computers connected to the SPOT software license through the partnership. Additionally, the computers display real-time stock movement information to facilitate information access. “Students can also register for securities accounts there to conduct trading activities,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Person in Charge of the ITS Vocational Investment Gallery, Fausania Hibatullah SStat MStat, explained that in the future, the ITS Vocational Investment Gallery will be open during working hours as a space for education and direct practice for both ITS students and the general public. Furthermore, there is also the ITS Vocational Capital Market Study Group (KSPM), which has undergone training to assist every visitor. “The work programs and agendas provided will also continue to provide financial literacy education,” revealed the lecturer who is affectionately called Sania.
At this inauguration, in addition to the discussion with ITS leadership, a capital market school seminar from IDX and PT Sucor Sekuritas regarding investment strategies was also held. Finally, the invited guests were invited to directly visit the newly inaugurated ITS Vocational Investment Gallery.
Langkah nyata peresmian GI Vokasi ITS ini sejalan dengan upaya pencapaian Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Utamanya pada poin ke-1 yaitu Tanpa Kemiskinan, poin ke-4 mengenai Pendidikan Berkualitas, dan poin ke-17 tentang Kemitraan untuk Mencapai Tujuan. Sania pun berharap agar galeri investasi ini benar-benar mampu menjadi wadah yang dapat dimanfaatkan dengan baik dan dapat terus berkolaborasi lebih lanjut dalam literasi serta edukasi pasar modal. The concrete step of inaugurating the ITS Vocational Investment Gallery is in line with efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Primarily Goal 1: No Poverty, Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
