ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has once again secured international prestige through the achievements of its three energy-efficient vehicle teams at the Shell Eco-marathon (SEM) Asia Pacific and the Middle East 2026 in Qatar, Sunday (25/1). In this global energy efficiency competition, the Antasena, Sapuangin, and Nogogeni teams from ITS successfully earned awards across various race categories.
The highest achievement was secured by Team Antasena ITS, which won first place in the Technical Innovation Award and second place in the Prototype Hydrogen Fuel Cell category. Furthermore, the team was selected as one of only four teams to qualify for the upcoming 2027 Shell Eco-marathon Global Championship in Qatar.
Damaila Fayza, the Non-Technical Manager of Team Antasena ITS, stated that the team’s achievement serves as proof of their readiness to compete on a global scale. “This achievement further motivates us to continue developing sustainable vehicle innovations in the future,” Damaila said.

Meanwhile, Team Nogogeni ITS also recorded a significant achievement by winning second place in the Urban Concept Battery Electric category. This result demonstrates the consistent development of energy-efficient electric vehicles by the team from the “Hero City” campus in international competitions.
Firmansyah Permadi Rastanto, from the Sponsorship and Public Relations Division of Team Nogogeni ITS, noted that support from various parties served as a unique motivation for the team to excel. “This encourages us to continue the development of eco-friendly vehicles,” he remarked.
In addition, Team Sapuangin ITS secured second place in the Urban Concept Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) category and second place in the Technical Innovation Award. These accomplishments affirm the team’s superior competitiveness in developing innovative vehicles based on internal combustion engines. This success further highlights the consistency of ITS teams in developing efficient and innovative vehicles on the international stage.

Candra Ikhsan, General Manager of Team Sapuangin ITS, mentioned that the team’s achievement would serve as vital evaluation material for the future. “This result is about more than just a podium finish; it is about evaluation and team development for our strategy in this year’s Formula SAE as well,” he revealed.
The Shell Eco-marathon is a prestigious vehicle design and engineering competition that brings together students from various countries. The event tests vehicle performance through on-track and off-track categories, with assessments covering energy efficiency, technological innovation, and technical standards according to international requirements.

The success of these three ITS teams reinforces the university’s commitment to driving research and innovation in sustainable vehicle technology. Active participation in this event also serves as a platform for students to develop their competencies to compete globally while representing ITS on the international stage.
The achievements of the three ITS energy-efficient vehicle teams at SEM 2026 also support the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production through the development of efficient and sustainable vehicle technologies.
