ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to show its concern for students affected by the flood disaster in the Sumatra region by providing scholarship aid and assistance. Based on the data collection results, ITS designated 34 flood-affected students as aid recipients, including one master’s program student.

The student data collection process was conducted through two channels: the distribution of questionnaire forms and direct data collection by the Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa) and the Directorate of Undergraduate and Graduate Education (DPSP) ITS. From this process, 148 students were identified as affected parties. This data was then re-confirmed through the heads of departments and their respective student associations.

The Head of the Data and Student Welfare Section of Ditmawa ITS, Murdiono SKom MKom, revealed that based on verification results, 34 students were declared significantly affected and entitled to receive further aid. In this instance, ITS is facilitating the application for a living cost aid scheme to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Diktisaintek) amounting to Rp 1,250,000 per month for three months.

In addition to facilitating living cost aid, ITS also proposed several Single Tuition Fee (UKT) aid schemes for the upcoming semester. According to Murdiono, out of the total 33 affected undergraduate students, 14 were already recorded as scholarship recipients. “Thus, currently we are only proposing five students to receive aid from the government,” he explained.

For the rest, Murdiono continued, his party is currently coordinating with the Endowment Fund Management Institution (LPDA) and the Association of Student Parents (Ikoma) ITS to provide aid for other affected students. “In fact, efforts can be made [to support them] until the student in question graduates if they are truly in a severely affected condition,” revealed the alumnus of the ITS Information Systems Master’s program.

Not limited to financial aid, ITS also prepared non-material support for affected students, such as psychological assistance and the fulfillment of academic needs. This is also part of ITS’s commitment to ensuring students can still undergo their studies well after the disaster.

Through this step, ITS asserts its commitment to providing comprehensive protection and support for students, specifically in emergency situations caused by natural disasters. This commitment simultaneously realizes points 4 and 17 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely Quality Education and Partnerships for the Goals. (ITS PUBLIC RELATIONS)
