ITS Campus, ITS News — The energy-efficient vehicle research team from the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) is once again ready to showcase its achievements at the national and international levels. This time, the ITS Nogogeni Team officially introduced the Nogogeni VIII and Nogogeni X Evo cars at the ITS Research Center Building on Friday (October 2nd), ready to compete in the 2025 Energy-Efficient Car Contest (KMHE).

ITS Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Nurul Widiastuti SSi MSi PhD, also appreciated the hard work and dedication of the ITS students in supporting the sustainability of clean energy through this energy-efficient car innovation. The two newly launched cars are designed with optimal vehicle efficiency. “Hopefully, these two Nogogeni ITS energy-efficient cars can win the championship title at KMHE 2025,” said the ITS Chemistry Professor encouragingly.

Meanwhile, Eringgo Perkasa, Head of the Sports Division of the Surabaya City Culture, Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office, SE MM, who was also present, assessed that the presence of this prototype car is a tangible testament to the dedication of ITS students in advancing research in Indonesia. “Hopefully, this launch can be a momentum that ignites the spirit of innovation and achievement among the younger generation in Indonesia,” he said hopefully.

On the same occasion, the General Manager of the ITS Nogogeni Team, Saputra Ardyan Syah, said that the Nogogeni VIII and Nogogeni X Evo cars that will compete in the Urban Ethanol Motorcycle and Urban Electric Motorcycle categories have advantages in optimizing the vehicle’s drive system compared to the previous generation. This optimization lies in the renewal of the drive system, namely the Nogogeni VIII uses a 108 cc Mio engine and the Nogogeni X Evo uses an 800 watt BLDC motor. “Previously, they used a 125 cc Mio engine and a 1,000 watt BLDC motor,” he explained.

Head of the Sports Division of the Surabaya City Culture, Youth, Sports and Tourism Office, Eringgo Perkasa SE MM, gave a speech at the launch of the ITS Nogogeni car.

In addition, unlike the previous generation which used a Hollow 6016 aluminum frame, the chassis of the Nogogeni VIII and Nogogeni X Evo cars currently uses a 6061 aluminum ladder frame. The use of this frame makes the car body stronger, safer, and more stable in bearing the driver’s load. “With this frame, the car is more stable when turning and resists twisting when competing,” said the student who is familiarly called Ardyan.

Furthermore, the optimizations are also supported by the car’s body mass efficiency, which is 15 percent lighter than the previous generation. According to Ardyan, this optimization can maximize the car’s performance during competition. “The Nogogeni VIII weighs 90 kilograms, while the electric-powered Nogogeni X Evo weighs even lighter, at 78 kilograms,” explained the student from the ITS Department of Industrial Mechanical Engineering.

This launch was also supported by various parties, especially PT Pertamina Lubricants as the main sponsor. This activity is a real proof of collaboration between ITS lecturers, students, and industry partners in encouraging sustainable innovation. Through this initiative, the ITS Nogogeni Team contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , specifically point 7 on Clean and Affordable Energy, point 11 on Sustainable Cities and Settlements, point 13 on Climate Change, and point 17 on Partnerships to Achieve the Goals.

Finally, Dedy Zulhidayat Noor, ST, MT, PhD, the ITS Nogogeni Team Supervisor, expressed his high hopes that the two new cars would achieve the highest achievement at the 2025 KMHE, which will be held from October 22–26, 2025, at the University of Jember. “Hopefully, ITS Nogogeni can once again defend its first-place title this year,” he said optimistically. (ITS Public Relations)
