Supporting Indonesia’s Progress, ITS Again Strengthens 121 New Engineers

ITS Campus, ITS News –  Supporting national development, the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) continues to strengthen its commitment to producing outstanding Indonesians. This was demonstrated through the inauguration ceremony of new engineers from the Professional Engineering Program (PSPPI) of the ITS School of Interdisciplinary Technology Management (SIMT) at the ITS Graha Sepuluh Nopember on Sunday afternoon (September 28).

In his remarks, ITS Rector Prof. Dr. (HC) Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MScEng, PhD, stated that the ITS PSPPI is a form of implementation of the contents of the ITS Strategic Plan (Renstra) 2021-2025, namely High Impact on Society, and is in line with the ITS motto, Advancing Humanity. “This is ITS’s participation in producing superior human beings and realizing its commitment to building a progressive Indonesia,” said the 13th ITS Rector.

First held in conjunction with the 132nd ITS Graduation Ceremony at Grha Sepuluh Nopember, Bambang stated that ITS wanted to invite new engineers to share in the euphoria of graduation at ITS. At this inauguration, there were 103 graduates of the 15th batch of the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program and 18 graduates of the 4th batch of the Regular program. The 121 graduates consisted of lecturers, experts, and practitioners from various industrial sectors. As of this inauguration, ITS has produced 1,605 outstanding engineers.

Furthermore, Bambang emphasized that engineering is a vital profession for supporting national development. He stated that engineers must always uphold professional ethics and positive values ​​in carrying out their duties. “Hopefully, engineers can continue to uphold engineering values ​​in the future,” added the Professor from the ITS Department of Mechanical Engineering .

Thus, Bambang hopes the knowledge and experience gained during his studies at ITS will serve as valuable capital for future engineers. “I want my educational experience at ITS to be the best preparation for carrying out my duties and responsibilities as an engineer,” he reminded.

Closing his remarks, Bambang also expressed his hope for continued collaboration between ITS and the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) to produce more engineers in Indonesia. He believes that these engineers, as members of the ITS academic community, should have a real impact for the benefit of the wider community. “We are very enthusiastic about the innovations engineers will bring to solve national development challenges,” he emphasized.

Echoing Bambang, the Chairman of the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (PII) for East Java, Dr. Ir. Gentur Prihantono, SP., SH., MT., MH., IPU, also emphasized the importance of engineers. He believes that engineers are the driving force of civilization and the spearhead of national development. “Engineers must possess competence, integrity, and the ability to innovate for sustainable development,” Gentur said.

PII commended universities and encouraged new engineers to continue learning, collaborating, and actively contributing to realizing Golden Indonesia 2045. Gentur emphasized the importance of collaboration and synergy between engineers and universities to enhance their knowledge capacity. “Engineers are the artists of civilization who support national development,” he emphasized.

The inauguration of these new engineers demonstrates ITS’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , particularly point 9 on Infrastructure, Industry, and Innovation.
