ITS Campus, ITS News — As a manifestation of its concern for clean water access, the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), through the Manarul Ilmi Foundation (YMI) and the ITS Alumni Association (PP IKA), has established ten endowment wells in various regions across Indonesia. The initiative was officially launched by ITS Rector Prof. Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MSc, Eng, PhD, in the ITS Academic Senate Meeting Room on Tuesday (September 9).

In his remarks, Bambang explained that this program aims to provide clean water to communities in areas with limited access. He added that water is a basic need and a crucial aspect for improving well-being. “We sometimes use water excessively, even though there are our less fortunate brothers and sisters who don’t have adequate access to clean water,” he said.

The ITS Mechanical Engineering Department Professor added that this initiative further solidifies ITS’s vision of becoming an impactful university that benefits the wider community. He hopes this synergy will not only provide solutions to basic community needs but also have a sustainable impact on future generations.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the YMI ITS Management, Ir. Triyanto, also detailed that the clean water facility endowment program will be implemented in 10 locations spread across various regions. These locations include Yogyakarta, Lumajang, Trenggalek, Bojonegoro (two locations), Bengkulu, Ngawi, Lamongan, Kediri, and Parigi Moutong. “These facilities have benefited more than 15,000 people who experience difficulties accessing clean water,” he explained.

Triyanto further emphasized that the success of the clean water facility endowment program is inextricably linked to the support of various parties involved. He believes that the presence of these facilities not only fulfills basic needs but also represents a strategic step in improving the health, education, and welfare of communities in underdeveloped areas.

Provision of clean water is also carried out by YMI ITS and IKA ITS in the Kediri Regency area.

In line with this, the General Chairperson of PP IKA ITS, Ir Wiluyo Kusdwiharto ST MBA IPU ASEAN Eng, also expressed his appreciation for the collaboration that has existed for more than a year between YMI ITS and ITS alumni. “This collaboration is a tangible manifestation of the alumni’s concern, not only for their alma mater but also for the wider community,” he said.

Going forward, this collaboration will continue with the construction of 12 additional locations, which are currently in the planning stages. The ITS Alumni Association (PP IKA ITS) also encourages alumni to actively participate in social programs and community empowerment. “With the support of ITS alumni, the implementation of the next clean water facility endowment locations is expected to proceed more quickly while expanding the reach of benefits to the community,” he stated optimistically.

Furthermore, the collaboration between YMI ITS and PP IKA ITS also reflects point 17, which addresses collaboration to achieve shared goals. (ITS Public Relations)
