ITS Campus, ITS News — The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) continues to demonstrate its commitment to building an inclusive and sustainable future through its Endowment Fund. This time, ITS received the Indonesian Waqf Board (BWI) Awards 2025 in the Best Endowment for State Legal Entity Universities (PTNBH) category on Tuesday (August 5) in Jakarta.
Appreciating this achievement, ITS Rector Prof. Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD said that this award is the result of ITS’s consistency through the ITS Endowment Fund Management Institute (LPDA) since 2021. Not only that, in 2022 ITS became the first university to invest the funds in state sharia financial instruments through the Cash Waqf Linked Sukuk scheme through direct placement.
The man, familiarly known as BP, stated that this demonstrates ITS’s concrete steps in promoting Islamic financial inclusion in the higher education sector. More than just a financial investment, the ITS Endowment Fund is a testament to a continuing investment in social good. “We established the ITS Endowment Fund as a form of effort to support long-term access to education,” he said.
In line with this, the Head of the ITS LPDA, Dr. Eng. Kriyo Sambodho, ST., MEng., conveyed ITS’s consistent support through the LPDA to the development of BWI. He added that to date, the ITS Endowment Fund has collected more than IDR 98 billion. All of these funds are held as waqf at BWI. This step also demonstrates ITS’s commitment to continuously contributing to the advancement of waqf in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, ITS, through its Endowment Fund, has distributed more than Rp 10 billion since its inception in 2018. The funds are distributed through the ITS Endowment Fund Scholarship, which has benefited 1,721 ITS students. “Not only does this fund help sustain their studies, it also fuels their dreams and hopes for the future,” he said.
Considering the importance of managing the ITS Endowment Fund, the lecturer from the ITS Department of Ocean Engineering emphasized that every rupiah entrusted to it has significant significance. The fund not only provides continuous benefits but also fosters a spirit of building a more just and equitable education system. “Let us continue to safeguard and grow the waqf ecosystem and the ITS Endowment Fund for a better future for Indonesian education,” he concluded.
Furthermore, the 2025 BWI Awards awarded to ITS also contribute to the realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) points 1 and 17. This strategic partnership between ITS and BWI demonstrates the collaboration between educational institutions and waqf institutions. This partnership has a positive impact on achieving sustainable development goals. (ITS Public Relations)
