The Indonesian Minister of Creative Economy Visits GRIT ITS to Review Creative Economy Development

ITS Campus, ITS News  — The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) continues to demonstrate its commitment to bridging research and innovation, including in the creative economy. This was demonstrated, among other things, by the warm welcome ITS received from the Minister of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia (Menekraf RI) at the ITS Research and Technology Innovation (GRIT) Building on Monday (August 4).

During the visit, Indonesian Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya BSc MT explained that the creative industry is a crucial sector that requires continued development in the current era. He believes it offers a solution for job creation for the nation’s youth. “This commitment aligns with the efforts ITS is making through GRIT,” continued Riefky.

Riefky further added that the government believes the creative economy is a driving force of the national economy that needs to be strengthened, starting from the smallest level. This philosophy encourages collaboration across various sectors, including academia. The role of academics is crucial in creating an innovative ecosystem capable of producing creative talent and sustainable solutions for the future development of the creative economy.

Continuing Riefky’s remarks, ITS Rector Prof. Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MSc, Eng, PhD, explained that GRIT ITS serves as a platform to showcase various works by ITS academics. The works displayed are the fruits of creativity with potential and market value to be developed towards the advancement of the national creative industry. “Specifically on this occasion, all the works displayed come from the ITS Faculty of Creative Design and Digital Business (FDKBD) and the ITS Directorate of Innovation and Science Technology Area (DIKST) ,” he explained.

The man, familiarly known as BP, stated that the Minister of Creative Economy’s presence at the Heroes Campus represents a crucial opportunity to encourage the development of the creative industry through the education sector. He believes that the synergy between universities and the ministry can open up opportunities for innovation and sustainable collaboration. “This also aligns with ITS’s commitment to continuously contributing to national development,” said the 13th ITS Rector.

In line with this, Baroto Tavip Indrojarwo, MSi, Senior Manager of the ITS Incubator and Innovative Business Services (ILBI), also explained the various concrete steps ITS has taken to develop the creative economy ecosystem. One of these is the ITS Creative Economy Program, which involves various elements related to innovation and the creative industry at ITS. “To be able to become a catalyst for the birth of creative innovation that can compete at the national and global levels,” he said.

One of the programs offered is the development of collaboration between technology, science, and the creative industry. Examples include the ITS Animation House, AnimaxplainITS, and the planned establishment of a digital comic and game house. ITS also plans to build a creative industry building that will serve as a platform for developing creative industry products.

This visit marks an important first step in the collaboration between ITS and the government to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem. This aligns with point 17 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , namely Partnerships to Achieve the Goals. “I hope this collaboration with ITS can create new growth engines rooted in the regions,” Baroto concluded hopefully. (ITS Public Relations)
