ITS Campus, ITS News —  Greeted with thunderous enthusiasm, the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Indonesia (Menko Infraswil RI) Dr Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono MSc MPA MA encouraged new students (maba) of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) 2025 to realize Golden Indonesia 2045. The inspiring message was delivered through a public lecture at the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) ITS event at Grha Sepuluh Nopember ITS, Monday (4/8).

The man, familiarly known as AHY, encouraged ITS new students to understand the global challenges and conditions facing Indonesia now and in the future. He emphasized that humans must be able to position themselves and take responsibility for every aspect that affects the order of life. “We must have a global perspective to understand the problems we face,” he emphasized, encouragingly.

The top graduate of the Military Academy in 2000 urged the ITS 2025 freshmen to increase their attention and cooperation in addressing the challenges of hunger, the clean water crisis, the increasing need for energy, and climate change. Furthermore, they were encouraged to become adaptive individuals capable of managing the technological developments they create.

On the other hand, the Bandung-born man reiterated that Indonesia is a country blessed with abundant natural resources. Therefore, Indonesians must be able to utilize these abundant natural resources to create useful products with high sales value. “The impact of this utilization can be supported by the welfare of the entire community,” he explained.

To realize these two efforts, AHY emphasized the need for a national transformation based on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). ITS can support this effort by becoming one of the higher education institutions contributing quality STEM graduates to the nation. “It is hoped that ITS students will be able to bring change to the nation,” he encouraged.

One step ITS can take is to collaborate with the government to deliver high-quality and impactful policies. Furthermore, students, as the nation’s future generation, can also contribute. “I am confident that ITS students are ready to participate in supporting Indonesia Emas 2045,” he stated optimistically.

In line with these expectations, ITS Rector Prof. Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MSc, Eng, PhD, stated that ITS students are not merely seekers of knowledge, but also future leaders, agents of change, and innovators for Indonesia. “With this attitude, ITS students are ready to face global challenges,” Bambang emphasized.

ITS implements this initiative by developing character, leadership, collaboration skills, and the courage to take responsibility in each student. Therefore, Bambang encouraged the ITS Class of 2025 to develop a culture of lifelong learning. “Congratulations on becoming a true ITS student. Let’s start writing your great story now,” he said proudly.

Efforts to address global challenges and utilize the nation’s natural resources simultaneously support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) . Several points supported include point 2 on zero hunger, point 4 on quality education, and point 17 on partnerships to achieve the goals. (ITS Public Relations)
