ITS Campus, ITS News  At the 2025 New Student Inauguration (PMB) ceremony at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), one student appeared quite young. She was Safhira Najma, the youngest ITS new student of 2025 at just 15 years and 9 months old.

The girl, familiarly known as Fira, successfully passed the entrance exam for the ITS Actuarial Science Undergraduate Program. Fira expressed her joy and pride in being accepted into the ITS student family, her dream university. Furthermore, the Actuarial Science Undergraduate Program aligns with her passion for mathematics. “I’m very enthusiastic about studying Actuarial Science,” said the girl, born on October 21, 2009.

The alumnus of the Amanatul Ummah Surabaya MAS Unggulan expressed her readiness to become a high-achieving student in both academic and non-academic fields. Fira is determined not only to serve herself, but also to study diligently to gain knowledge that will benefit the wider community.

On the other hand, Fira’s accelerated program during junior high and high school made her appear younger than her classmates. However, this has actually motivated her to continue learning despite the intense learning environment. In fact, this cat lover has managed to participate in extracurricular activities, such as the flag-raising team (paskibraka), scouts, and choir.

This hijab-wearing girl admitted that she was happy and able to follow the lessons well during the accelerated program in high school. This was certainly due to the constant support of her family and those closest to her. “My older siblings were a huge motivator and inspiration for me to pursue an education at a prestigious university,” she admitted.

The Bangkalan student continues to emphasize the importance of education for the future. Therefore, Fira doesn’t consider age as a benchmark or limitation in pursuing an education. “We must always strive and be enthusiastic, and we must never give up in pursuing an education,” the youngest of four siblings emphasized, encouraging her.

Fira’s determination to pursue an education also marks a new beginning for her in navigating the broader world of education. This momentum also supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 4, which focuses on quality education. (ITS Public Relations)
