Bandung, ITS News – The RIVERA Team from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) successfully clinched the first-place title in the final of the ABU Indonesia Robot Contest (KRAI) 2025 at the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) campus, which concluded last night, Tuesday (7/8). In one of the divisions of the Indonesia Robot Contest (KRI), ITS secured a ticket to represent Indonesia at the final event of ABU Robocon 2025 in Mongolia, next August.

After previously advancing to the semifinal stage by defeating Universitas Brawijaya (UB), the path to the peak of glory for the RIVERA ITS team occurred in the final round. This flagship ITS robot team showed flawless performance and ensured an absolute victory over the EIRA team from Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya (PENS). With a total of 24 points obtained from six matches throughout the competition, the RIVERA ITS team became a consistent and unmatched team.

From the start, the team, which is a creation of the ITS ABU Robocon team, had shown extraordinary performance on its journey to the champion’s peak. This was evident in the running test the day before, where this team was the only one among the 24 finalist teams that managed to score points by shooting a basketball into the opponent’s basket. This point achievement marked the technical superiority of the two robots, each with a diameter of 80 centimeters.

The Head of the ITS ABU Robocon Team, Hafiedz Rosyada, explained that the success of the RIVERA ITS team was inseparable from the synergy of its two flagship robots, namely Kuroko and Kagami. Kuroko is a dribbling and shooting robot with a height of 150 centimeters. Meanwhile, the Kagami robot is designed to receive passes and shoot the ball with similar dimensions but can be extended to a height of 170 centimeters to block the opponent’s ball shots.

With full confidence in the flagship robots Kuroko and Kagami, Hafiedz also expressed his pride and hopes. All the team’s hard work paid off with the KRAI 2025 champion title and a ticket to Mongolia. “Our focus now is to give our best and hope to bring pride to Indonesia’s name at ABU Robocon 2025 in Mongolia later,” he emphasized.

The Advisor Lecturer of the ITS ABU Robocon Team, Moh Ismarintan Zazuli STrT MT, stated that the team’s preparation was mature for this national event. However, he continued to encourage and urged the team to stay focused and humble. “Although in the running test and preliminary stages they performed very well, the team must remain focused on the competition,” he reminded.

Not only that, the lecturer from the ITS Automation Electrical Engineering Department is confident in achieving victory at the international ABU Robocon 2025 event later. He aims for the best with robots designed to shoot the ball with precision and move very quickly. “We aim for the best by being able to surpass ourselves,” he stated optimistically.

With mature preparation and innovative strategies proven effective in every round of the competition, the RIVERA ITS team not only bagged the champion title but was also awarded the national champion title. Beyond that, this prideful ITS team was awarded the title of the team with the best strategy. This double success strengthens ITS’s position as a leader and innovator in robotics in Indonesia.

More than just a champion title, the success of the ITS ABU Robocon Team also strengthens the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 4 regarding quality education and point 9 regarding industry, innovation, and infrastructure. This achievement is a concrete reflection of ITS’s commitment to promoting technological innovation through education and research as a technology-based higher education institution.
