ITS Campus, ITS News – In an effort to break the chain of poverty through the education sector, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) established a collaboration with CT Arsa Foundation’s Excellence High School. This effort was realized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the graduation ceremony of CT Arsa Foundation’s Excellence High School in Kendal Regency, Central Java, last Friday (6/28).
The Rector of ITS, Prof. Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST., MSc. Eng., Ph.D., emphasized that this collaboration is a concrete form of ITS’s concern for equal access to education. Bambang believes that the role of a university is not only to produce excellent graduates, but also to provide equal opportunities. “With this, we believe that students from underprivileged families can also compete and contribute to society,” he asserted.
As for the choice of CT Arsa Foundation’s Excellence High School as a collaboration partner, it was not without consideration. Bambang assessed that this school is known as a pioneer of inclusive education that provides free and quality education for students with economic limitations. “Not only that, this school is also consistent in carrying out the mission of breaking the chain of poverty through education,” said the ITS Professor from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Continuing his statement, that consistency became a strong reason for ITS to provide broader opportunities for the graduates of CT Arsa Foundation’s Excellence High School. Bambang stated that ITS sees great potential in the students of this school. “ITS is ready to become a home for them to continue their dreams through quality higher education,” he stressed again.
The scope of this collaboration includes expanding the opportunity to enter ITS for graduates of CT Arsa Foundation’s Excellence High School. In this regard, Bambang also emphasized that graduates of the school have the potential to receive a golden ticket as an alternative admission route. “Golden tickets are very possible to be given in the future, considering the achievements of the students from that school,” added Bambang.

More than just a partnership, this collaboration is expected to become an opening path for more graduates of the school to access higher education. Bambang believes that this step will support the acceleration of poverty alleviation through the academic path. “We hope that economic limitations will not hinder them from realizing their big dreams together with ITS,” he concluded optimistically.
This collaborative step is a form of ITS’s involvement in responding to the challenge of poverty. Not only that, this collaboration also contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 1 on no poverty, point 4 on quality education, and point 17 on partnerships to achieve the goals.
