ITS Campus, ITS News — The Ministry of Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia launched the Patriot Transmigration program consisting of the Patriot Expedition and the Patriot Scholarship schemes. The Minister of Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, socialized the Patriot Transmigration program to the academic community of the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in a Guest Lecture at Grha Sepuluh Nopember ITS, Monday (6/16).

Iftitah explained that the featured program Patriot Transmigration aims to support the development of transmigration areas in Indonesia. This goal can be achieved by encouraging the strengthening and improvement of human resources (HR) quality in transmigration areas. “Quality human resources is a necessity in building transmigration areas,” he emphasized.

In more detail, Iftitah explained that the Patriot Expedition program aims to identify the potential of natural resources, culture, and infrastructure development opportunities in transmigration regions. This field research is carried out by the Patriot Expedition Team, which consists of the academic community of various universities in Indonesia that is in partnership with the Ministry of Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Rector of ITS, Prof. Ir. Bambang Pramujati ST MScEng PhD, welcomed the socialization of the Patriot Transmigration Program from the Ministry of Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia in the Guest Lecture of the Minister of Transmigration at Grha Sepuluh Nopember ITS.

Furthermore, the man born in 1977 explained that the Patriot Expedition Team, involving lecturers and students, will be deployed to transmigration areas in Indonesia starting in December 2025. Later, this team will not only act as researchers but will also directly serve as mentors and companions for the recipients of the Patriot Scholarship program.

On the other hand, the Patriot Scholarship offers funding for undergraduate, applied undergraduate, and postgraduate levels at top universities both domestically and abroad for the young generation of the nation. “This scholarship will later produce quality human resources who are able and committed to support the development of transmigration regions in Indonesia,” explained Iftitah.

The Political Science alumni of Universitas Padjajaran explained that the Patriot Scholarship will be distributed starting from 2026 with a target of 2,000 recipients. After completing their period of study, the Patriot Scholarship recipients will be obligated to assist communities in transmigration areas in utilizing existing resources.

Furthermore, to support this commitment, expert research and platforms for human resource (HR) competency development are needed. Iftitah revealed that this step can be achieved through collaboration with universities as intellectual centers. Therefore, the Ministry of Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia is partnering with seven State University of the Legal Agency (PTNBH) and five non-PTNBH State Universities in Indonesia.

The Rector of ITS, Prof. Ir. Bambang Pramujati ST MScEng PhD, welcomed the Patriot Transmigration Program, in which ITS is one of the seven PTNBHs invited to contribute. This is proven by ITS deploying 57 Patriot Expedition Teams. “Together with Patriot Transmigration, ITS moves to bring knowledge, innovation, and real action from campus to the corners of the country,” he emphasized.

The Professor of the ITS Department of Mechanical Engineering is confident that this cooperation will bring forth a national movement to build transmigration areas as a pillar of Indonesia’s economy. Based on superior human resources, applicable research and innovation, as well as local potential development to realize the economic independence of transmigration.

The step taken by ITS along with the Ministry of Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia in developing transmigration regions also supports the creation of a better life through the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
