ITS Campus, ITS News — To further improve its academy quality, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) continues to increase the number of professors. This time, the number increased again with the inauguration of five new professors in the ITS Professors Council Open Session at the ITS Research Center Building Auditorium, on Thursday (16/1).
On this occasion, ITS Rector Prof. Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD said that with these five new professors’ inauguration, ITS currently fulfills 208 professors. Even the plan until September this year, ITS will inaugurate another 28 new professors who have been approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (in Indonesian terms, Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset, dan Teknologi, abbreviated and will be referred as Kemendikbudristek) the Republic of Indonesia before. “With the increasing number of professors, let’s strengthen synergy and step optimistically for the progress of ITS and the Indonesian nation,” Bambang emphasized.

The 204th ITS professor, Prof. Dr. Sri Rachmania Juliastuti MEng, gave a scientific oration titled “The Contributing Role of Organic and Inorganic Waste as a New Renewable Energy Raw Material” to start the inauguration procession. “This organic and inorganic waste treatment innovation not only prioritizes the quality and efficiency of the process but also sustainably treats waste,” said the professor from the Chemical Engineering Department of ITS.
Continuing the oration session, Prof. Dr. Ir Setiawan MS from the Department of Statistics of ITS delivered his scientific oration entitled “The Role of Statistics in Econometrics for Quantitative Economic Policy Making.” “If a country or region has a good econometric model, then policy making in that country will be better,” explained the 205th ITS professor.
Continued by Prof. Nurhadi Siswanto ST MSIE PhD from the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering of ITS who delivered a scientific oration entitled “The Role of Industrial System Simulation Science in the Decision-Making Process of Industrial Problems.” “This simulation offers great potential that can be used to increase the effectiveness of development in various sectors,” said the 206th ITS professor.

Next, Prof. Agus Muhamad Hatta ST MSi PhD fromthe Department of Engineering Physics of ITS was also inaugurated as the 207th ITS professor. Presenting his scientific oration entitled “The Role of Optical Instrumentation to Support Sustainable Industry.” “One concrete example is the application of Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) based on fiber optic sensors for disaster mitigation and infrastructure monitoring,” explained the Vice Rector IV for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Alumni Affairs of ITS.
Finally, Prof Dr Ir Agus Sigit Pramono DEA was confirmed as the 208th ITS professor with a scientific oration entitled “Development of the Use of Cellular and Magnetic Materials in Mechanical Structures and Machine Components.” “The development of the use of magnetic materials in machine components has been carried out for gears, brakes, suspensions, and bearings,” said the professor from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of ITS.

Closing the inauguration of the new ITS professors, ITS Professors Council Chair Prof Dr. Ir Imam Robandi MT also expressed his hopes for the five new ITS professors. “These professors are the nation’s thinkers, so it is hoped that the five new professors at ITS can contribute more to the nation,” said the professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering of ITS.
In line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 which emphasize quality education, the inauguration of these five new ITS professors is an important milestone in the academic world.
