General Manager of the ITS Sapuangin Team, Yudistira Kahar, admitted that his team only had four months to develop its latest Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) fueled car. The short preparation time was due to the competition schedule which will take place earlier than in previous years, namely on February 8-12, 2025. Furthermore, the young man who is familiarly called Yudis explained that there were several improvements to the engine components in the form of a drivetrain that functions as the car’s drive system so that it can run optimally. The development also aims to increase the fuel efficiency of his latest car. “Fuel consumption has increased by almost 20 percent from the previous car,” said the ITS Mechanical Engineering student.

In order to improve its performance, the ITS energy-efficient car team also developed an electrical system in this 11th generation car to be able to run more efficiently and stably. In addition, some body materials that were originally metal were replaced with carbon composites to reduce the weight of the car. “The weight from this year is around 110 kilograms,” said Yudis.

Improvements were also made to the telemetry data system to optimize monitoring of the car’s speed and fuel usage while moving. With these improvements, the car with a length of 2.6 meters; width of 1.3 meters; and height of 0.8 meters is expected to be able to compete optimally, both in the On Track and Off Track categories in the SEM 2025 event.
