MoU Signing between ITS and Van Lang University (VLU) Vietnam which was held online

ITS Campus, ITS News – Stepping into World Class University, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) keeps collaborating with numerous foreign universitites. This time, ITS embraces Van Lang University (VLU) Vietnam through the online signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Wednesday (3/2).

The collaboration between the two universities started with one of the VLU lecturers, Ms. Nguyen Hoang Mai, who was a participant in the CommTECH program held by the ITS Directorate of International Relations or International Office (now called the Directorate of Global Partnerships), in 2018.

The relationship between the two continued when the VLU delegation returned to ITS in the Guest Lecturer Series activity at the ITS Business Management Department, at the end of 2020. As a form of continuous collaboration, ITS then also sent a delegation as a virtual lecturer at VLU.

Ultimately, the two universities decided to collaborate in the academic field which was validated through the memorandum of understanding. “Seeing some of the activities that are already running, the two universities are committed to strengthening collaboration,” explained Vice Rector IV for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and ITS Alumnus Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD.

Besides the Vice-Rector IV of ITS, the signing of the MoU was also attended virtually by the Dean of the ITS Faculty of Creative and Digital Business Imam Baihaqi ST MSc PhD and the Head of the Business Management Department Dr. Syarifa Hanoum ST MT

And from the VLU, also present VLU Rector,  Prof. Tran Thi My Dieu PhD, Vice-Rector of VLU Dr Vo Van Tuan PhD, Head of the International Cooperation and Scientific Research Department Dr. Ngo Minh Hung, and also several other lecturers from the VLU Faculty of Public Relations and Media Communications were also present.

Several forms of collaboration that will be established by the signing of the MoU are exchange programs for both students and lecturers, joint research programs, and joint-supervision . “Given the current condition which is still in the pandemic era, we will first focus on virtual exchange and other long-distance programs,” said Bambang.

ITS also opens opportunities to run a Joint Degree program, where VLU students can take half of their studies at ITS to get a degree. This program also applies to ITS students who want to run a Joint Degree program at VLU.

In line with Bambang, Dean of the ITS Creative and Digital Business Faculty Imam Baihaqi ST MSc PhD also said that this MoU would not only target the Department of Business Management. “It is possible to collaborate with other departments in ITS and VLU,” he concluded.
