ITS Campus, ITS News – A delegation from the Danish Embassy in Indonesia visited the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) campus, Friday (4/11), to explore cooperation, especially in the maritime sector. As an institution that since its inception was lined up directly by Indonesia’s first president to focus on the maritime sector, ITS officially accepted the visit.

ITS Rector Prof. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng welcomed the Danish Ambassador (Ambassador) to Indonesia Lars Bo Larsen and his staff, including Jacob Kahl Jepsen as Commercial Counselor and Andre Pandean as Commercial Advisor at ITS Rectorate Building. As an opening, Ashari introduced the ITS campus and ITS Science Technopark to the Danish Embassy delegation.

The Rector, who is familiarly called Ashari, said that ITS Science Technopark consists of three excellent centers: robotics, automation, creativity, and maritime. “Science Technopark ITS is committed to supporting innovation and technology commercialization, developing business creations and employment opportunities, as well as economic development from the results of downstream research by lecturers and students,” he explained.

Danish Ambassador Lars Bo Larsen expressed his further interest in knowing the forms of cooperation opportunities that can be built with ITS later through the initial presentation. Therefore, the Danish delegation visit was continued to the ITS National Ship Design and Engineering Center (NaSDEC) Building.

After a brief presentation by ITS Maritime Innovation Cluster Unit Manager Ir Tri Achmadi, Ph.D., the Danish delegation was invited to tour the NaSDEC building, which also presented an exhibition. This exhibition shows several startups and innovative products of the ITS academic community.

One of them is Eco-friendly Innovation Product, an environmentally friendly container that is cheaper and lighter. “He is very impressed with the innovation of container products made by ITS students because it is very relevant to maritime needs in Denmark,” said Tri Achmadi.

There is also the ITS Automatic Identification System (AISITS), an early warning system for ships to reduce sea accidents. The iStow is a planning system for storing goods for marine transportation and many other products engaged in the maritime sector.

Even though it focuses on the maritime sector, the exhibition also presents other products outside of it that are still closely related to technology. One of them is IKUBox, which is a Disinfector Box for medical and household items. “We present all the existing products with the hope that they can open up opportunities for cooperation,” said the lecturer at the Department of Marine Transportation Engineering.

Such things bring grist to his mill. Through this short visit, Ambassador Lars Bo Larsen also expressed his desire to follow up on potential cooperation with ITS by planning to send an industrial delegation. “I think this is good news for ITS to be able to market their research work to the industrial level as well as the commercial level,” he concluded happily. (ra/man/ITS Public Relations)
