ITS Campus, ITS News – The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) continues to help the community in the midst of the threat of Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19). Today, Saturday (16/5), ITS held an agenda of Social Services (Baksos) to distribute assistance to workers and communities around the campus environment that are in need.

Head of the ITS Social Service Committee, Lalu Muhamad Jaelani, S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., explained that this agenda was a collaboration between ITS and various other parties. Among those parties, there are the ITS Alumni Association (IKA), ITS Civil Alumni (ALSITS), the ITS Disaster Response Team, and the ITS Covid-19 Technical Preparedness Team. “The implementation of the preparation and distribution of aid is directly handled by the Covid-19 Technical Preparedness Team,” said this lecturer in Geomatics Engineering.

Lalu continued that the social service event consists of two activities. First, the delivery of food packages to three villages around ITS, namely the Gebang Putih Village, Keputih Village, and Kejawan Putih Tambak Village. “This assistance will then be distributed evenly through means of the village offices of each region,” he revealed.

Second, there is the distribution of food packages for underprivileged workers who contribute to the daily operations of ITS. According to this bespectacled man, both aids are only intended for those who have low incomes and are in need of help.

Elaborating deeper, the Project Manager of the ITS Disaster Response Team emphasized that there were 1,185 food packages distributed. The food packages consist of rice, oil, sugar, shredded, noodles, and milk. “Although not much, we (ITS) want to help alleviate the economic burden of the surrounding community,” he stated.

Finally, he would like to express his gratitude to the entire committee and volunteers who in the past week have been endlessly seeking additional donations. They also helped in the preparation of all the food packages, starting from packing five tons of rice, one ton of oil, one ton of sugar, and lots of milk and floss. He hoped that this could be the reason for the happiness of the big family of ITS and the surrounding community. “ITS still exists and will continue to contribute for this nation,” he asserted firmly.
