ITS Campus, ITS News – most undergraduate student programs only research the final task (TA) to qualify for its graduation. But it is different for Bobby Ardiansyah Miraja, one of the graduates of the Department of Business Management, Faculty of Creative Design and Digital Business of the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) which has successfully sent five scientific papers in the international Scopus indexed journal

Amazingly, the five scientific journals were passed in just over the last year. Three of them have been published and the other two are still awaiting its publication this year as well. There are still two more scientific journals that Bobby has successfully published in international journals, but has not been indexed by Scopus yet. As information, Scopus is the center of citation data or scientific literature owned by the world’s leading publisher Elsevier.

Although busy writing the journal, Bobby who is a Bidikmisi Scholarship student is still able to complete his education only for seven semesters or 3.5 years. Bobby will be formally graduate on Sunday (15/3) in Graha Sepuluh Nopember.

Told by Bobby, all of his works originated from the invitation of one of his business management lecturers, Satria Fadil Persada SKom MBA Ph.D., to be guided to research and publish scientific journals. Bobby, who felt disinterested in the course of research methods in his department, felt this offer could be his difficulty solution. “I started September 2018 with some friends, but the one who still interested and survived is just me,” he said.

At that time, he is revealed that he has no experience in the writing of scientific articles before. Although he admits it has long been attracted by the scientific stuff. Bobby became a lecturer in the Young Scientist community in the Department of Business Management in 2019.

The community aims to guide other students in conducting research. “Mr. Satria hopes that ITS student thesis can be a publication of the journal and the community can also be a role model in ITS future,” said this young man.

Until now, Bobby’s five scientific journals have been cited for 17 times. Bobby confesses to be very pleased when he learns that his journal was first cited for one time on a doctor’s dissertation at a university in the United States.

In addition to scientific journals, teenagers from Surabaya are also active in business competitions and student organizations. His social entrepreneurship idea to educate high school students in choosing a university managed to get two fundings in the Indonesian Student Business Competition (KBMI) and ITS Youth Technopreneurship (IYT) in 2019. “On the social side, we help students (scholarship recipients) a mission of financial problems by being a consultant online,” he explained.

In the department’s student organization, Bobby is also trusted as vice chairman of the Business Management Student Association (BMSA) in 2019. Research, business competitions, as well as the organization, explained Bobby, he did at the same time. According to him, mental health is the key to productivity. “It should be a pleasure to continue because we will be happy work is finished,” he motivates.

However, Bobby’s life is not without difficulty. Bobby tells both his parents are not from educated circles. This is certainly interesting, especially when Bobby tells the story of his parents who don’t understand what he’s doing. “When my journal rises, they’re confused with what I’ve written through repeated explanation,” Bobby recalls smiling.

About both his parents, Bobby admitted that currently the father is only a masseur and the mother helps with selling rice wrap. According to Bobby, since childhood, he was taught about how money is not everything. So he claimed still confident with his family condition.

Bobby sadly remembered his childhood. He remembered how to spend a New Year’s Eve with only 10 comics he rented, while his parents had to work. The sound of fireworks outside the house adds to the void. “But it was not felt, just now if you remember feeling sorry for yourself,” the youngest of the two brothers recalled.

In finding his love for the scientific world, Bobby admits he did not get the slightest demands from both of his parents. The free condition is precisely leading itself to find online media named 9gag on the Internet. He found many scientific things in the media sharing the meme. At the age of middle school, Bobby was aware of his favorite learning. “Finally I feel learning is interesting and not because of the pressure of anyone,” he said.

Bobby expresses his love for learning and scholarship precisely to help ease the burden of his parents. “When it is difficult, My research funds are given, so can I can help my parents,” he said with a proud smile.

To his fellow students, Bobby had a message to always maintain mental health. It is said to be often forgotten by most people. According to him, besides working, entertainment also needs to be planned. “Find and plan an entertainment that you like, for example with playing games or watching TV shows,” he reminds.
