UKTK Becomes The Champions of the Art Festival Competition

ITS Campus, ITS News – the activity Unit of dance and Karawitan (UKTK) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) back torrefied its achievements. In Art Festival Competition 2019, ITS came out as the first champion after competing at Airlangga University.

The hard work of the UKTK team pays off with satisfactory results in the traditional creations dance category. Martanti Aji Pangestu, one of the dancers said, preparations made by the UKTK to join the event long enough, ie since the last semester’s holiday. “Ranging from choreography, costume, concept, to the movement of dancers to be flexible and not stiff,” she said.

Initially, each dancer who is considered capable and ready to dance the Larung Sajen well-selected. After going through a lengthy preparation process, they can finally submit their best Larung Sajen dance videos to be selected by the contest organizers. “The unexpected we got to pass the selection and had the opportunity to show our dance right at the final stage,” said Martanti.

The unique dance is an original directed UKTK without a trainer. Members of the Force 2015 and 2016 who play the role of creating this dance. As for the song, was created by the Karawitan UKTK. “This Sajen Larung was self-directed by UKTK about two years ago, so we retarget it for this race,” Jelas Martanti.

As Shown by Miranti, this dance tells of the betrayal of Goddess Kilisuci who does not want to keep his promise to marry Jatasura. As a result, Jatasura’s outrage made him swear by a curse. “Therefore, Dewi Kilisuci invites the community to immerse the Sajen in Mount Kelud,” he said explains the traditions that are still being done today.
