ITS Campus, ITS News – A proud achievement was again inscribed by the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). ITS as the best legal entity university (PTN-BH) in Indonesia, succeeded in ranking 4th best universities (PT) in 2019 version of the classification by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) which was officially announced, Friday (16/8) afternoon.

With the achievement of a total score of 3,462, ITS finally able to enter the ranks of the top four best universities in Indonesia. As for the first position to be occupied by Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), the second position is filled by Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and the third position by the Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB). While the Universitas Indonesia (UI) this time is under ITS in the fifth position.

Responding to this achievement, ITS Rector, Prof Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng said, this year the assessment process was divided into 4 major groups, namely inputs, processes, outputs, and outcomes.

“This achievement is the hard work of all ITS academicians, whether lecturers, staff or students all contribute, and we are very grateful for this achievement,” said Ashari, his familiar greeting, with a face full of gratitude.

According to Ashari, for the quality of all these aspects, ITS is no doubt. The aspect of ITS contribution so far to the nation can be referred from the quality of ITS human resources proved to have produced many qualified graduates and many of the country’s leaders, let’s say the closest one is Surabaya City Mayor, Tri Rismaharini. As for the institutional aspect, in last April, ITS received an award from Kemenristekdikti as the first best PTN-BH in Indonesia.

Ashari explained, in the aspect of the quality of the students and community services, ITS always fully supports all student activities. So that the achievements can be inscribed for ITS itself and Indonesia in the international arena. While community services, it has become an obligation for all universities to carry out the third point of Tridharma.

The research-based on community service has also been widely carried out by ITS. “Likewise for the students at ITS that do community service program (KKN) whose goal is to make a devotion to the community directly,” said the professor of ITS Electrical Engineering.

Ashari said that ITS also has helped the government in carrying out related its programs to provide maximum services to the community. One of them is in various districts in Indonesia, ITS has been invited by the local government to develop and implement a smart city in their district.

“When it comes to innovation, in my opinion, ITS cannot be doubted. We (ITS, red) always make the latest breakthrough to produce innovations that can be useful to the nation and the country, “said the bespectacled man. As it is known, in 2017, ITS was also awarded by Kemenristekdikti as the most innovative university.

However, according to Ashari, what needs to be improved is the data management factor and the data delivery of these five aspects. All aspects need improvement efforts, especially human resources.

“But there are still a lot of data in Jakarta (Kemenristekdikti, red) that have not been updated so that we (ITS, red) continue to update, improve, and provide the best data,” explained the lecturer who also served as the Head of ITS Electro Engineering.

Ashari also explained it would be useless if there were many achievements but the data collection was not well managed and not reported, so it will not be conveyed to the public. “So thanks to all ITS internal parties who have worked together in past few months to improve the data management and performance,” he said.

Ashari reminds this ranking is just a bonus that obtained by ITS for the hard work results of all the elements in it that always strive for the. The performance at ITS is not based on the ranking targets, but ITS continues to strive for the best in all aspects.

Ashari asserted, ITS will continue to be ready to contribute for the best to the nation and the country as an educational institution. The goal to be pursued is to maximize the potential that exists in ITS. “In the future, ITS can provide more extensive benefits for the people of Indonesia and to make Indonesia proud in the international arena,” he concluded.
