ITS and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) re-enhances international scale cooperation. This collaboration aims to develop research in the field of science and technology in ITS campus environment. To improve international research, ITS agreed to strengthen research cooperation with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). This cooperation is marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding or Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) at the event SCIEMATHIC 2019 in Melaka, Malaysia, Wednesday (14/8).

SCIEMATHIC 2019 is a 5th International Conference on the Application of Science and Mathematics held by UTHM as a host organized by the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST) UTHM in collaboration with ITS and Ahmad Dahlan University and the Jember University. This year, SCIEMATHIC 2019 was in the theme of Synergy through collaboration in Science and Mathematics & MoA signing ceremony attended by more than 200 academics and students.

Lecturer of Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences ITS, Sri Fatmawati Ph.D., was sovereign to be the keynote speaker for this conference. Besides Fatmawati, there are also two other speakers, Prof Dr. Edy Tri Baskoro from Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Dato ‘ Dr. Mohd Sofi Osman from UTHM.

At the end of the scientific discussion session, the event continued with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The signing was done between ITS by Rector of the Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng with UTHM by Vice-Chancellor UTHM Prof. Dr. Wahid bin Razzaly. Also, UTHM signed MoA with ITB and industry in Malaysia namely General Manager of MIMOS and Executive Director of Sigtech.

ITS Rector and Vice-Chancellor UTHM supported this collaboration. Both sides agree that this cooperation is not only joining the international seminar but can be continued with research collaboration both in science and technology. Besides, this cooperation is also strengthened with the national industries in Indonesia, Malaysia, as well as other countries. (owi/rev)
