ICTS 2019, The Discussion of Technology, Information, and Communication

ITS Campus, ITS News – Department of Informatics Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) hosted The 12th International Conference on Information & Communication Technology and System (ICTS) 2019 on Thursday (18/7). With two keynote speakers, the conference is expected to be a worldwide discussion of technology, information, and communication (ICT) to support the 4.0 Industrial Revolution.

The first speaker was Prof Wei-Chung Teng from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST). In his presentation, he explained how the process of implementing 5G technology in Taiwan. Not only that, but it also explains how important it is to be able to reduce prices to stay affordable.

The second speaker is Prof Ir Handayani Tjasandra MSc Ph.D. which is the lecturer of Departement of Informatics. Handayani, her nickname, explains his research on the process of transmitting brainwaves to a computer. Resulting in the work of the process that occurs in the human brain can be translated into a computer in various external types to then be processed further.

Chairman of the Committee ICTS 2019, Bagus Jati Santoso S Kom Ph.D. said that these two discussions presented by both the speakers in ICTS 2019 are the highlight topics of the moment. “For example, Prof. Handayani, she has focused on a new area namely Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI), also Prof Wei-Chung Teng with its 5G technology that is being encouraged now,” he said.

In addition to the presence of two core speakers, ICTS 2019 was also attended by dozens of presenters who would present their research. Bagus said that, compared to last year, this year’s acceptance rate is increasing. “A total of 142 papers were entered, but received only 43,” he told ITS Online. The number of its participation countries, continued Bagus, has also increased. There are a total of 12 participating countries, the majority of Western Asia such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and others.

Bagus admitted, the Department of Informatics opens widely for the presenter speaking in all IT lines (information and technology, red). “Whether it’s Image Processing, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Intelligence System, whatever it is,” he said. Because the purpose of international conferences such as this is an event is to share and updates knowledge in the IT area, especially those that can support the development of technologies related to the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
