ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is always open in enhancing international cooperation with overseas universities around the world. This is indicated by the acceptance of visits from two international universities to ITS campus, namely from Saga University, Japan and from Curtin University, Australia, Monday (27/7).

ITS Rector, Prof Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng, received a direct visit from the two university delegates at different times of the day. The Saga University, represented by Prof. Masato Tominaga, has conducted an Agreement of Academic Exchange between ITS with the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The closer relations of these two universities resulted in the signing of an MoU.

The addendum in the MoU includes the student exchange details for special auditors or the special research students for 12 months, starting in 2019. Besides that, another cooperation that has been carried out is the outbound student internship with the ITS Department of Chemical Engineering and inbound student through the Community and Technological (CommTECH) Camp.

Rector Mochamad Ashari admitted that there were at least six of ITS students who successfully participated in the program at Saga University for 8-10 days. The good news, the cost required is also assisted by Saga University.

In that brief visit, ITS students discussed the research progress that had been carried out in the laboratory. Thus, it opens up great opportunities for further cooperation with the entire departments in ITS. “It could be in the form of a double degree program, fast track program, or another program,” said the rector who is usually called Ashari.

While at different time, a visit from Curtin University, Australia represented by Simon Leunig, Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Curtin International, has also been in cooperation with ITS. One of them is by joining the Western Australia-East Java University Consortium (WAEJUC). Besides, it has also agreed in the field of Research and Exchange.

From the results of the meeting, Ashari revealed that Curtin University also offers scholarships. “We were offered to send three students to study in Australia and be funded,” said the professor of Electrical Engineering.

In addition to students, Curtin University also provides scholarships for ITS lecturers to continue their doctoral degrees. “They even asked to send four people to the doctoral program,” Ashari admitted. (sof/owi/gayatri/ITS Public Relations)
