The Cooperation between ITS and ZTE to Improve Education Quality

ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) once again was been glance by international companies to collaborate on improving the quality of education. This time, the leading company of telecommunications solutions provider, ZTE Corporation, whose cooperation was inaugurated through the signing of the agreement in ITS Rectorate Building, Thursday (11/7).

The form of cooperation is to provide scholarship and laboratory equipment in the Department of Electrical Engineering ITS. The signing of this cooperation agreement was carried out directly by ITS Chancellor, Prof Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari M Eng, and President Director of ZTE Indonesia, Richard Liang. Also witnessed by the head of ITS Electrical Engineering Department, Dr. Eng Ardyono Priyadi ST M.Eng, and Executive Director & Executive VP ZTE Corporation, Gu Junying.

The Chinese Consul General in Surabaya, Liu Qiang, gave a speech.

In addition to providing a symbolical scholarship to ten students of the Department of Electrical Engineering, on the same occasion, ZTE also handed over GPON devices, routers, and switches to complement the existing telecommunications network laboratories in the Faculty of Electrical Technology ITS.

“ITS is welcome and happy to accepted cooperation that has many positive impacts,” said the man who graduated his master and doctoral at Curtin University, Australia.

On this occasion, the ITS Chancellor, usual called Ashari was revealed that ITS had been cooperating since long time ago, where ZTE provides scholarship and technological equipment in the laboratory. “But on this occasion, ZTE again gives great attention to ITS, that is by adding newer equipment for practical teaching at the Network Laboratory, Department of Electrical Engineering,” he explained.

According to Ashari, this time work was aimed to make the relationship between the industry and the universities closer. In a way, the latest technology owned by the industry, in this case, ZTE, is used for practicum in universities. “So the students will be more aware, and more familiar with the technologies that are being developed in the latest industry,” said the professor of Electrical Engineering.

President director of ZTE Indonesia, Richard Liang, in his speech hoped that contributions from ZTE would be useful to equip ITS students with high knowledge and skills in the field of communication technology. Because according to him, education is one of the most important components of a nation.

“Therefore, along with ITS as one of the best engineering universities in Indonesia, ZTE hopes to jointly build more talented people to contribute to the growth of this country, especially in the field of technological innovation,” he said.

Richard also reveals, ZTE highly prioritizes research and development for technological innovations. With 15 Research and Development Centres (R&D) around the world, ZTE allocates at least 10 percent of its annual revenue for research and development. “And we are committed to continuously providing innovations in the development of integrated telecommunications and technology,” he promised convincingly.
