ITS Campus, ITS News – Energy consumption in Indonesia continues to increase and is expected to exceed the global average by 2030. Through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), Tuesday (6/4), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is ready to contribute to a massive oil production increase program.
Based on the World Energy Outlook 2019 by the International Energy Agency (IEA), Indonesia is estimated to experience an increase in energy consumption of up to 36 percent in 2030. remains fulfilled.
The oil and gas production target initiated by SKK Migas is fully supported by ITS. ITS Rector Prof. Dr. Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng expressed his readiness to contribute and assist SKK Migas programs for national development. “To support these targets, we have prepared both in terms of knowledge and institutions,” said the rector who is familiarly called Ashari.

Furthermore, the Head of SKK Migas, Dr. Ir. Dwi Soetjipto said that this cooperation has three main targets. The first is the vision of 1 million barrels of oil production as an effort to meet people’s needs and a strategy to increase national oil and gas reserves. “This vision is the highest vision in oil and gas production to date,” explained this ITS Chemical Engineering alumnus.

The second target is how to optimize the increase in added value which will play a role in driving the national economy. The last one is to ensure the sustainability of this program in the long term. “This vision is not only for increasing oil and gas production but also as a forum for the development of science and technology (science and technology) for community service,” said the man who once served as President Director of Pertamina.

The former Chairman of the ITS IKA hopes that the program can be continued and in the future, it will further strengthen the cooperation between ITS and SKK Migas. “Let us bring together breakthroughs that are useful for national economic growth and have a positive impact on the Indonesian people,” he concluded with hope.
