ITS Campus, ITS News – Even though Indonesia has implemented a new normal policy, in reality, the number of positive patients with Covid-19 is still increasing. To overcome this problem, three Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) students created an application called Anti-Covid, which offers a self-protection service from Covid-19.
They are the Tim Hore, consisting of Rosalia Kurniasari, Belinda Kezia Purwanto, and M Dinandya Hendrico. The three of them made an innovation in an application that can collaborate with medical personnel and volunteers. One of the Anti Covid excellent features is the home rapid test service.
Rosalia Kurniasari, usually called Rosa, as the team leader, explained that most Indonesians still do not comply with the health protocol rules and do not understand the rapid test procedure. Then there are still many people who are afraid to do a rapid test at the hospital. “Because seeing the possibility of contracting the Covid-19 virus in the hospital is very high,” she said.
In the new normal era, many prominences require rapid test results, for example, when going to ride public transportation like trains. Therefore, Team Hore provides features like rapid test services from home. “People don’t have to worry about being exposed to the Covid-19 virus from the hospital,” explained the student from the Department of Chemical Engineering.
When the user has carried out a rapid test, they can download the result via the application. If the user is tested positive, the patient will be given an independent isolation warning which health workers will supervise for 14 days per existing regulations.
Besides, according to Rosa, several other features are offered, such as users being able to conduct online consultations related to Covid-19 with medical personnel online. “Users can also find out the latest health news, especially regarding Covid-19 info,” she explained.
Rosa said the Anti-Covid application could also help prevent transmission through social distancing. The application is equipped with a director-finding system to track the user’s location. If there are two or more users nearby, a notification will appear in the form of a warning to keep each other’s distance.
The technology to track the user’s location is the Bluetooth 5.1 feature equipped with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy), so it doesn’t drain many cell phone batteries. Also, this mobile-based application built using the PHP programming language and the JQuery Mobile framework.
Hopefully, this idea can be further developed into a real application to help protect and educate the public. This application also facilitates health services, especially in the pandemic era of the new normal era like today. “Still, all of this also needs support in the form of public awareness of the importance of complying with and implementing applicable health protocols,” concluded Rosa.
