Kampus ITS, ITS News – The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) once again showed its excellence in effort of becoming a world class university. This time, ITS successfully entered the global rankings of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) in the field of Physical Science. Currently, ITS’ rank is 801+.
In collaboration with Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), THE is a credible institution that presents the performance data of international universities, which has a large influence in ranking universities around the world.
In THE WUR’s ranking in the field of Physical Sciences, universities’ performance is assessed based on several indicators that consist of the focused areas of science, namely chemistry, physics and astronomy, marine and earth science, mathematics and statistics, and geology.
According to Prof. Hamzah Fansuri, M.Si., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Science and Data Analytics (Scientics), ITS was successfully ranked 801+ in the world university rankings that include 1,054 universities from all over the world.
This professor from the Department of Chemistry mentioned that some of the parameters used to assess ITS’ performance were Citation, Industry Income, International Outlook, Research, and Teaching.
According to THE WUR assessment, ITS achieved first place in Indonesia with a score of 31.6 in the field of citation, 40.4 in the field of industrial income, 26.0 in the field of the international outlook, 7.6 in the field of research, and 11.6 in the field of teaching. “ITS’ strengths reside in the areas of Citation and Industrial Revenue, while the fields of International Outlook, Research, and Teaching, remain as our weaknesses,” Hamzah added.
In response to the results of this ranking, Hamzah explained that the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) will continue to strive in improving the quality of the campus. This effort will be implemented thoroughly in the process of education, aspect of human resources (HR), facilities and infrastructure, international cooperation, alumni relations as well as industrial cooperation.
The focus of the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) is to improve the quality of education and research, as well as community service which serves as an important point in the Tri Dharma of University. “Strengthening this Tri Dharma will automatically increase the score of the five WUR assessment criteria,” emphasized this lecturer who earned his doctoral degree in the Curtin University of Technology.
Hamzah also remains optimistic that the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) can continue to maintain and improve its ranking. Not only at the national level, but also in the world university ranking. “The implementations encouraged and ordered by the leaders of ITS strongly supports this achievement,” concluded Hamzah.
