ITS Campus, ITS News — The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) warmly welcomed hundreds of international students to study in the odd semester of the 2026/2027 academic year on Friday (September 11). A total of 196 international students officially joined various academic programs offered by ITS, one of the best engineering universities in Indonesia.

ITS Rector Prof. Dr. (HC) Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST., MScEng., PhD., stated that this number includes 155 exchange students and interns. Bambang further explained that 26 others are on full scholarships and 10 on partial scholarships.

Furthermore, there are three Dharmasiswa students and two BIPA students, among other international students, currently studying at ITS. “Their presence strengthens ITS’s position as a global-standard campus sought after by students from around the world,” Bambang explained.

The warm evening of camaraderie served as the first step in acclimate for international students before diving into the busy academic landscape. The Rector emphasized the importance of building emotional bonds, both among students and between students and the campus environment.

Unlike previous years, this year’s Global Night event featured local cuisine, games , dancing the Indonesian Poco-poco dance, and karaoke.

This lounge provides an ideal platform for international students to share cross-cultural stories. “We hope that close friendships will naturally develop, strengthening global solidarity in our country,” said the ITS leader.

Bambang also encouraged international students to explore East Java, particularly Surabaya. He believes the City of Heroes holds a wealth of history and heritage tourist destinations that are easily accessible.

The Rector also encouraged students to take advantage of the available facilities and infrastructure. One example is the campus’s wide-open sports facilities, which are essential for maintaining fitness. Bambang explained that all students have the freedom to join existing sports clubs, such as basketball, volleyball, or soccer, alongside local students.

This warm gathering of international students further strengthened ITS’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This strategic step aligns with SDG Point 4, which addresses Quality Education, expanding access to global mobility and academic inclusion.  (*)
