ITS Reaffirms Its Commitment to Upholding Integrity and Safeguarding Its Academic Reputation

ITS Campus, ITS News — Responding to the unauthorized use of the name of the Biomedical Engineering Department and an alumnus of the Marine Engineering Department of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) as contributors in a scientific publication that is currently drawing public attention, ITS asserts that the information is incorrect. ITS as an institution continues to uphold integrity, ethics, and credibility in all academic activities.

ITS has observed various circulating information regarding fraud acts or research manipulation that also drag the institution’s name. ITS Rector Prof Dr (HC) Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MSc Eng PhD emphasized that ITS upholds academic integrity, research ethics, and scientific honesty as the main principles in all academic and research activities. “ITS also respects the clarification, verification, and investigation conducted by the relevant parties,” asserted Bambang.

Furthermore, ITS encourages caution from various parties in tracing information to prove the case currently circulating. Based on the results of the tracing and clarification conducted, ITS found information that does not match the facts. It was conveyed that there is no School of Biomedical Engineering at ITS as misused in one of the existing articles. “In the official ITS structure, the correct one is the ITS Biomedical Engineering Department or Biomedical Engineering Department,” stated the Rector.

In addition, ITS has also clarified with Dimas Fajar Prasetyo, whose name is listed as one of the contributors in the publication. It can be confirmed that Dimas is indeed an alumnus of the ITS Marine Engineering Department. However, the person concerned confirmed that the use of his name was done unlawfully or illegally.

He firmly stated that he was completely uninvolved in the research process and did not recognize the parties who listed his name. “I assert that I knew absolutely nothing about the matter and did not conduct the research at all,” emphasized Dimas when confirmed by the team from the ITS Public Communication Unit (UKP).

ITS rejects all forms of research ethics violations, data manipulation, fabrication of research results, as well as the misuse of the institution’s name. Furthermore, if ethical violations, data manipulation, or misuse of the institution’s name are found, ITS will firmly take action against such behavior in accordance with applicable academic, legal, and regulatory provisions. As an educational institution, ITS is committed to continuously maintaining its academic dignity and strengthening research standards within the campus scope. (HUMAS ITS)
