ITS Chancellor Prof Dr (HC) Ir Bambang Pramujati ST MScEng PhD when delivering a scientific oration for his inauguration as the 232nd ITS Professor

ITS Campus, ITS News – Strengthening its role as a World Class University, the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) has inaugurated five professors for the sixth time in 2025 at the ITS Sepuluh Nopember Building on Tuesday (23/9). Interestingly, one of the new professors is ITS Rector Prof. Dr. (HC) Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MScEng, PhD, who was officially inaugurated at the Open Session of the ITS Professorial Council.

The Chairman of the ITS Board of Professors, Prof. Dr. Ir. Imam Robandi, MT, proudly welcomed the contributions of ITS’s new professors to the advancement of science. Imam stated that these five new professors will contribute to achieving the ideals of ITS and the Indonesian nation. “With the increase in the number of professors, ITS is expected to reach a top 300 global ranking by 2026,” the optimistic Professor of the ITS Department of Electrical Engineering stated .

In this procession, the ITS Rector who was inaugurated as the 232nd ITS Professor delivered the first scientific oration entitled Robust Predictive Model Control and Its Role in Manufacturing and Robotics Processes . He explained that this method is a breakthrough in a new tuning strategy on Model Predictive Control (MPC) which is much simpler and more practical. “This process can bridge advanced research with real needs in the industrial world,” explained the Professor from the ITS Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Next, Professor of the ITS Department of Architecture, Prof. Dr. Dipl. Ing. Sri Nastiti Nugrahani Ekasiwi, MT, delivered a scientific speech entitled ” Building Design Concepts to Manifest the Expressions ‘Isis’ and ‘Seger’ .” She believes that architectural design embodies the response to the relationship between humans and the environment. “Therefore, architecture must pay attention to human habits and the conditions of the surrounding environment,” said the 233rd ITS Professor.

The next scientific oration was delivered by Professor of the ITS Department of Chemical Engineering , Prof. Ir. Juwari ST MEng PhD, who raised the title “Sustainability of the Chemical Industry through Systems Engineering and Process Safety .” Through this theme, the Dean of the ITS Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering (FTIRS) sought to address challenges and minimize risks within the chemical industry system. “The chemical industry must be able to operate safely, environmentally friendly, and remain profitable,” said the 234th ITS Professor.

Continuing the presentation, Professor of the ITS Department of Biology, Prof. Dr. rer nat Ir. Maya Shovitri, MSi., delivered a scientific speech entitled ” Bacteria: Invisible but Impactful Friends Supporting a Sustainable Environment with Biodegradation. ” Starting from concern about Indonesian coastal pollution, Maya developed research into bacterial physiology and molecular biology. “This research development can benefit the environmental, economic, and environmental sectors,” explained the 235th ITS Professor.

Finally, a scientific oration was delivered by Professor of the ITS Civil Engineering Department, Prof. Mohammad Arif Rohman ST MSc PhD, entitled Strengthening the Social Dimension in the Concept of Sustainable Infrastructure to Achieve Long-Term Success of Construction Projects in Indonesia . This strengthening of the social dimension was realized by the 236th ITS Professor in the form of the Project Social Benefit (PSB) concept. “This concept is expected to answer the needs of the community as the end users of infrastructure,” he said.

The inauguration of ITS Professors in various fields of study reaffirms the role of this Campus of Heroes in supporting national progress. Through this inauguration, ITS opens a new gateway to quality education for the nation’s future generations.
