Tim Bayucaraka ITS sukses menyabet gelar Juara 3 kategori Fixed Wing dengan mengalahkan 131 tim negara lain di Teknofest 2025, Turki

The ITS Bayucaraka Team successfully won the 3rd place title in the Fixed Wing category by defeating 131 teams from other countries at Teknofest 2025, Türkiye.

ITS Campus, ITS News — Continuing to demonstrate its best potential on the global stage, the Bayucaraka Team from the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) has once again achieved success by winning third place in the Fixed Wing category at the Teknofest 2025 International UAV Competition in Koaceli, Turkey. This international-level competition result is a testament to the ITS flying robot team’s prowess on the global stage.

Aldinata Rizky Revanda, SKom, MKom, Coordinator of the ITS Bayucaraka Team, explained that Teknofest is an international aerospace technology competition held by Tubitak Turkey. In this event, the ITS Bayucaraka Team participated in two competition categories: Fixed Wing (FW) and Free Mission (FM). “We are the only Indonesian representatives who successfully qualified to compete in both categories,” Aldinata added proudly.

In the Fixed Wing category, Aldinata continued, the team he mentored presented their prized drone, the Leonardoro. This category’s mission was to fly the aircraft in a figure-eight pattern twice. The aircraft was also challenged to drop its payload precisely at the designated target. “In this category, we won third place, beating 131 other participants,” he explained.

According to the ITS Informatics Engineering lecturer , the main innovation that makes Leonardoro superior is its lightweight and powerful enough to carry heavy loads as an unmanned aircraft. “In this case, we excel in lightness ( body ), while other teams are heavier because they use polymer,” Aldinata explained.

Meanwhile, the Free Mission category emphasized independence in the development of an unmanned aircraft called Bayusuta. The ITS Bayucaraka team was required to independently create Bayusuta components, such as the motor, propeller, and body. “Scores in this category are determined by the team’s level of independence in producing these components,” explained the lecturer and ITS Informatics Engineering alumnus.

Behind the podium, the ITS Bayucaraka Team has a tense story of struggle, especially when faced with unfamiliar field conditions. Aldinata recalled how the team had to adapt to the strong gusts of wind at the race site. “When we took off, we were worried that the motor wouldn’t be strong enough to withstand the wind,” he recalled.

Aldinata emphasized that the ITS Bayucaraka Team’s victory was a combination of months of internal team hard work and support from the ITS Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa) and the ITS Student Parents Association (Ikoma). Armed with two achievements in international competitions this year, SAFMC Singapore 2025 and TEKNOFEST Turkey 2025, Aldinata is optimistic that his team will succeed in winning the overall title at the upcoming Indonesian Flying Robot Contest (KRTI) 2025.

The ITS Bayucaraka Team’s achievement at Teknofest 2025 aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 9, which focuses on infrastructure, industry, and innovation. This success is not merely a podium finish, but also a testament to the ITS academic community’s ability to contribute to the development of global aerospace technology. (ITS Public Relations)
