ITS Campus, ITS News — Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has once again carved out a proud achievement through one of its best sons. This time, Amadeo Yesa from the ITS Informatics Engineering Department successfully secured a Top 3 position or 3rd Place (2nd Runner Up) in the Clash of Champions (CoC) Season 2 event held by Ruangguru in the grand final, last Saturday (23/8).
For the young man familiarly called Deo, this spectacular achievement is not his first. He revealed that since high school, he has been actively participating in various competitions as a means of self-development. His efforts have borne fruit, leading him to win a silver medal at the National Science Olympiad (OSN) in Chemistry in 2022. “Switching from chemistry, I also found an interest in informatics after successfully winning 2nd runner-up in the NLC Schematics ITS when I was in high school,” he explained.
From that experience, this student from Surabaya set his heart on continuing his studies at the ITS Informatics Engineering Department after graduating from Rajawali Catholic High School in Makassar. His name became more widely known when in 2023, the youngest of two siblings managed to record himself as the highest scorer in the Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) in all of Indonesia.
The series of brilliant achievements he had attained led Deo to decide to participate in CoC Season 2. Facing participants from top campuses in the country to world-class international campuses did not dampen the spirit of the son of Dr. Piters Djajakustio SH MH and Dr. Werdiningsih SH MKn MH. “To be able to stand on equal footing with great participants from all over Indonesia while carrying the name of ITS is an extraordinary thing,” he said proudly.

For Deo, the journey in this competition was certainly not easy. The young man who enjoys listening to songs from the music group T-Square had to conquer various logic games with a high degree of difficulty. Deo admitted that he did not have time to make special preparations because the games were so varied. Nevertheless, the 2023 batch student always tried to find a simple and effective strategy to survive each challenge.
The student, born on June 25, 2005, also revealed that his favorite game in this competition was Solar Enigma. In that game, he was trusted as the team captain and successfully led his colleagues to complete scholastic challenges, numerical logic, to acoustic descriptions. “Communication with teammates was very good, so our teamwork went smoothly,” he explained.
Thanks to his superior competence in every game, Deo managed to get through all the challenges without ever being eliminated. That hard work finally paid off with a sweet achievement, namely placing his name as the 3rd Place winner of CoC Season 2. Deo emphasized that this achievement could not be separated from the prayers and support of his parents who always accompanied him until the end of a competition.

More than just a championship title, the most memorable moments he found were behind the scenes. Meeting and building relationships with 79 other great participants from various backgrounds was an opportunity Deo was always grateful for. Reuniting with old friends who used to often compete together in high school also became an unforgettable memory. “From their experiences and life stories, I can learn many lessons,” he said.
Currently, the teenager who regularly works out at the gym is still interested in continuing to compete, especially in events that involve teamwork. In the future, Deo is determined to finish his studies well in order to pursue a professional career before continuing his master’s education abroad. “My biggest hope is simple, which is to be able to make my parents proud,” he said hopefully.
At the end of his story, this student who enjoys drinking coffee left a message for all students of this Hero’s Campus to always be proud of their alma mater. This achievement also affirms the role of ITS as an institution that consistently produces outstanding young generations who support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 4 concerning quality education.
