Kampus ITS, ITS News —To increase the contribution of interdisciplinary research and innovation, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has appointed professors for the fifth time in 2025. A total of five new professors were officially appointed at the ITS Professor Council Open Session at Grha Sepuluh Nopember ITS on Thursday (28/8).

ITS Rector Prof. Ir. Bambang Pramujati, ST, MSc, Eng, PhD proudly opened the professor inauguration ceremony and expressed his appreciation for the contributions of the professors to the advancement of the institution. “The addition of these five new professors is expected to produce excellent research and tangible products that will be of broad benefit to society and enhance the reputation of ITS in the world,” said the 13th Rector of ITS.

The inauguration ceremony began with a scientific speech by the 227th ITS professor, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Edwin Setiawan, S.Si., BioCur, M.Sc., from the Department of Biology, entitled “Uncovering Sponges (Phylum Porifera Grant, 1836), The Role of Primitive Animals in Biological Diversity, Conservation & the Welfare of the Indonesian Nation.” “Sponges are very simple animals, yet research in Indonesia remains limited, even though sponges hold great potential,” explained Edwin.
